Highland Cow Farm Stay - The Highland Bunkie

Welcome to The Highland Bunkie. Experience a unique Highland cow farm stay just steps from our Scottish Highland cows as they graze our beautiful 15-acre hobby farm. Your stay includes a free hands-on guided tour ($50 value) where you’ll meet and interact with all of our farm animals. After an unforgettable day of animal encounters, relax in your cozy, fully electric bunkie and enjoy a farm glamping experience. Reconnect with nature and make memories you won’t find anywhere else. The space This cozy, year-round bunkie is fully insulated and heated by an electric fireplace, keeping you comfortable in any season. The loft sleeping area features a queen-sized bed and a window overlooking the beautiful pasture. The couch folds down into an additional single sleeping space, allowing the bunkie to accommodate up to three guests. Due to the cozy layout, it is best suited for couples or small families. For extra guests please send an inquiry. Please note, linens are not provided, so remember to bring your own pillows and blankets. The bunkie is fully electric with lights and outlets for your devices. A kettle filled with fresh drinking water is provided along with coffee and tea options. We’re happy to refill the kettle if needed. The bathroom is located in a nearby outhouse building with a flush toilet and sink (heated washroom in winter). Please note there is no shower or running water inside the bunkie. A shower bag for dishes or a portable outdoor shower is available during the summer months upon request. For cooking, a barbecue is available under a large hay hut for shelter, with a picnic table just steps away for enjoying meals outdoors. Spend your evenings relaxing around the fire pit, roasting marshmallows, and enjoying the peaceful farm surroundings (firewood provided in summer months). Don’t forget to look up — the stargazing here is incredible, and with a little luck you might even catch the northern lights. The surrounding countryside is rich with wildlife. Deer, fox, moose, coyotes, black bears, bald eagles, and many other animals live in the area and are sometimes spotted nearby during your stay. Guest access The Highland Bunkie is located on the upper part of the property at the corner of three pastures, offering a peaceful and private setting about 300 feet from the main house. As an active hobby farm, we’re often nearby caring for animals and working around the property, but we respect our guests’ privacy and are always happy to help if you need anything during your stay. Professional photos with the animals are available during your visit if you’d like to capture the experience. Where you’ll be: Located in the quiet countryside near Powassan, you’ll enjoy a peaceful rural setting while still being close to town. Powassan is about a 10-minute drive away for basic amenities, and North Bay is just 25 minutes away with additional shops, restaurants, and attractions. Snowmobilers are welcome! The property backs directly onto the snowmobile trail with easy access at the corner of the road. Outside of winter, the trail is also great for walking and hiking. Nearby attractions: • 5-minute drive to a beautiful beach for swimming • 10-minute drive to Powassan Mountain hiking trails with scenic lookouts • Two nearby golf courses • Less than an hour’s drive to two stunning waterfalls and hiking destinations Other things to note Things to note: All of our animals are on strict diets, so please do not feed them anything unless it has been provided by us. For the health and safety of our animals, we have a no pets and no smoking policy on the property.
