Domino Cottage

Domino Cottage is a beautiful, secluded bush retreat in Lyonville just meters from the Domino Trail. Come and unwind, and be mesmerised by the towering messmate trees of the Wombat State Forest. The space Domino Cottage is the ideal retro sanctuary for relaxing and immersing yourself in the stunning local bush landscape. Lyonville is in the heart of the Hepburn Shire, only a 7 minute drive to Trentham and 15 minute drive to Daylesford. From just beside the cottage you can walk, run or ride the beautiful Domino Trail. It is only a 10 minute walk to both the iconic Radio Springs Hotel and Cafe de Lyonville, a Sunday morning celebration of coffee and homemade cakes in the local community hall. Sitting on the wrap around verandah you can watch the kangaroos grazing and lazing on the lawn. There are resident king parrots, lorikeets, kookaburras and ducks on the dam. The forest is also a conservation area for the powerful owl and home to the gorgeous greater glider, so keep your eyes peeled. You can catch a yabby, play bush cricket, or enjoy a quiet cup of tea or picnic on the lawn. Domino Cottage is simple and peaceful, and the perfect antidote to busy life. There is no dishwasher, microwave or TV, but plenty of outdoor games, books, puzzles and board games. Please bring your own bath towels, flat and fitted bed sheets and pillow cases. We provide pillows, doonas, doona covers, tea towels, hand towels and bath mat. Tea, coffee and basic condiments are provided. Guest access Guests have full access of the cottage and two acre property. Only the storage shed will be locked. Other things to note There is a Ned Kelly wood fire, heaters in the bedrooms and plenty of hot water bottles for the cooler months, and air conditioning and an outdoor bath to relax in when its warm. Trentham pool and Lake Daylesford are both free, and perfect for a cool off in summer. The satellite internet is adequate, but not fast enough for large downloads. Phone reception is patchy but Telstra calls can be made through the wifi. There is better mobile reception out on the main Trentham-Daylesford Road. Please note there is an unfenced dam on the property and guests are responsible for the safety of all children and members of their group. There are nets hanging between the shed and water tanks if you want to try your luck catching a yabby. No pets, many thanks. Please be aware of local fire danger ratings, and note there are no fires allowed in the fire pit from October through to April.  We really hope you enjoy your stay at our much loved family bush getaway.
