Welcome to The Outpost! A beautifully remodeled house on 5 acres, but only minutes from town! We are less than an hour from the slopes of Steamboat Springs, less than five minutes from the Craig hospital and community college, and a great jumping off point for everything the Yampa Valley has to offer. The space Hello and welcome to the Outpost. We are nestled in the top left corner of Colorado, in a little town that locals like to call Craig, America. The Yampa Valley (where the Outpost resides) has a strong history in the Old West- cowboys, homesteaders, miners, pioneers and mountain men were all passers-through of this beautiful land. Traditionally, forts were the only established stops for these weary travelers to get some rest, spend some time, and recharge for whatever lay ahead of them. Nowadays, there are still many travelers passing through these parts (albeit fewer mountain men and pioneers). Our aim is to become an established stop- an “Outpost” if you will- where today’s weary travelers can rest their own heads and recharge for whatever adventures lay ahead of them. The Outpost was created as a meeting of the minds, a labor of love. Moved to the 5 acres it sits on, the house came to Craig from Wyoming, and has been fully remodeled from 70’s brown and Pizza Hut light fixtures to the modern home you see here today, while still striving to honor the area’s history and past residents. Your hosts are Justin, Paige, Bridger and Jude Hayes- Justin is a builder whose family has lived in the Yampa Valley since they came here as homesteaders over 100 years ago. Paige is an interior designer whose family has lived in the Yampa valley since her parents came here on a ski trip over 35 years ago. Justin and Paige both love this place and the history it represents so much, that they named their oldest son after the mountain man Jim Bridger who used to roam these parts (Jude was named for the Beatles song). The Hayes family (along with Justin’s parents Janet and Kelly) have spared no consideration in the designing of this property. Made for families and groups who feel like family, the house sits on 5 acres in the country… yet is still only five minutes from the Super Walmart, the hospital, the college, the brewery, main street shopping, and Craig’s newest addition- the Food Warehouse. We are only a 45 minute drive from the Steamboat Springs ski area as well! We welcome kids, parents, grandparents, miners, nurses, professionals, non-professionals, hunters, gatherers, nomads, and travelers of all kinds- if you are on your way from here to there, you are welcome. If this is your final destination for a lil’ while, you are welcome. Everyone is welcome at the Outpost! (Except for cats, because we're allergic). So whether you’re here to ski or to hunt or to work or to visit or to play or just to sleep… come stay with us! Out in the corner of Northwest Colorado… half way between hell-n-gone. Fine accommodations: We have a generous three bedroom, two bathroom open floor plan at the Outpost. 1. The Homestead Room is the primary bedroom, with a King sized Dreamcloud Hybrid pillowtop mattress. Cotton sheets, fleece blankets, a quilt and a fluffy duvet assure that you will be able to layer just right. This room also has an attached bathroom with two sinks, a large soaking tub and a stand up shower. Last, the walk in closet also has the "cloffice"- a private working space for anyone who needs some time to get stuff done! 2. The Prairie Room is the middle bedroom, and has a queen sized bed with an Amerisleep mattress- so cozy! It also has all of the awesome bedding components featured in the Homestead Room. 3. The Frontier room is the fun room. There you'll find a twin sized daybed with an 8" Zinus Spa mattress, and a pull out trundle bed with an 8" Zinus Green Tea mattress. We have comfy lounge bean bags, games, toys and books, as well as a nice big closet! The main bathroom serves the Prairie and Frontier rooms, as well as the living/dining/kitchen area. It has a tub/shower combo. We offer plenty of shampoo, conditioner, body wash, tp, towels, lotion, etc. for guests. Our kitchen comes fully stocked with everything you might need to craft some awesome grub. All of the appliances and fixtures are brand new! We also have storage for guest food and anything you bring with you. The laundry room has an awesome brand new washer and dryer set with plenty of space for big loads. We provide detergent and dryer sheets, just use what you need! The laundry room also has extra hooks for your gear and anything that might need to dry out overnight. Guest access It's all yours! Other than the shop/garage. That's ours haha. But you get access to the whole place, with the exception of the locked freestanding owners closet in the laundry room. Feel free to roam like the buffalo do. We have a halo keypad lock, and guests will be provided with a custom code prior to arrival.
