A-Frame Bamboo Cabin in a Jungle Eco-Project
Description
La Ventana is a working project that is set on 50 Hectares with the majority of the land being old-growth rainforest that is preserved & protected. We host educational courses and also host Indigenous/Mayan ceremonies. This is a remote adventure, which is one of the main attractions. It’s a unique cultural jungle experience! Benji, Nancy & their 3 children have lived at La Ventana for 10 years now. The space The Bamboo A-frame Cabin is equipped with fresh linens, pillows, towels and solar-powered or battery lighting. The cabins are basic, yet comfortable, lockable, clean, and have bug nettings. Please note there is no AC or Fans. FACILITIES: A beautiful clean swimming hole within the Chacamax River. Cool, refreshing & private outdoor showers with spring water. Communal dining room. Communal workshop room. Clean spring drinking water. Outhouses. WIFI. We do have solar-powered Wifi for 2-3 hours that we turn on daily. Due to the location a connection can not be guaranteed and is only suitable for light data use. Off-grid experience! OUTHOUSE & SHOWERS: There are 2 showers that are private and operate with fresh mountain spring water. Available 24/7. We have 4 outhouses on site which are basic yet clean. THE PROJECT: La Ventana is nestled between 3 remote Mayan villages where many of the elders only speak Mayan! It is a unique experience to know how the Mayans live in the small villages and jungles. We have been living in La Ventana for over 10 years now where we have safely housed thousands of enthusiastic visitors & participants in the project. It is a rare and authentic cultural experience. Guest access Once you reserve, we will send you full instructions on how to get to La Ventana. It is 90 minutes from Palenque. This is all part of the ADVENTURE. You can bring your vehicle or take a taxi. We suggest you make a full effort to arrive by daylight by 4:00 p.m. Taxis are approximately $500 pesos. We will connect you with reliable local taxis. If you drive yourself by car, we will send you directions. It is a 2-wheel drive road from the main road to La Ventana, however, it can be bumpy in places and you will have to open and close a few cow gates as you approach La Ventana. All part of the wonderful cultural experience. Once you arrive at the La Ventana sign and pathway, you will walk approx 60 meters to the crystal-clean Chacamax river to cross it and you will be in LA VENTANA. The River is normally only ankle or calf deep, however, right after times of heavy rains, the river can rise quickly. If this happens, we will meet you, carry your bags to the other side and help you cross. If you arrive before check-in time, you are welcome to enjoy all the facilities until your room is ready. If the room is already cleaned you are welcome to check in early.
