After a busy day, relax on the patio, play badminton in the spacious backyard, or stroll the meditation path. For those looking for a stair-climbing challenge May - October, the Dingle Tower (built to commemorate 150 years of representative government over 100 years ago) offers 99 steps to a memorable view of the Arm and Halifax Peninsula. With 95 acres at your doorstep, Fleming Park (named after Sir Sandford Fleming - strong proponent of Coordinated Universal Time and one of the chief surveyors for the Intercontinental and Canadian Pacific Railways) is perfect for a bike ride, jog, or leisurely stroll around the Frog Pond where you can watch the ducks or along the seawall where you can hear an occasional loon or spy an osprey or cormorant fishing in the Arm. Guest access Welcome to our surprisingly spacious and cozy unit, perfect for your stay. The long galley kitchen is fully equipped with a cooktop stove, microwave, toaster oven, kettle, coffee maker, blender, toaster, and fridge with freezer. We provide complimentary packages of hot cereal, coffee, tea, and hot chocolate for breakfast. The large studio/bedroom features ample closet space, a comfortable queen box spring with a Bamboo mattress, and a desk for your convenience. The cozy den/eating area can easily convert into an additional bedroom with a fold-out double couch. For extra guests, we offer two single double-high air mattresses and an additional queen air mattress. The unit includes a modern 4-piece bathroom and has ceramic floors throughout. You can control your own heat with a separate thermostat. A washer and dryer are available in the unit, along with an iron, ironing board, and full-length mirror. For those needing to work, a desk and some office supplies are provided, with access to a shredder, scanner, and fax/printer if needed. Other things to note Welcome to our serene retreat with a beautiful wooded backyard where you might spot deer and enjoy the playful antics of squirrels in the park and front yard trees. In the fall, you can even take home a chestnut or two to plant as a lovely memory of your stay. For families with children, we have toys available in the back stairwell, stored in crates or on the wall. If a ball needs more air, feel free to use the bed pump. Children's chairs and a water play table are tucked under the forsythia, and additional garden chairs can be found under the deck. To create a warm and welcoming atmosphere, plug in the lights by the back door when returning late.
