Description
Be part of the Leclaire National Historic District by calling this timeless, updated 1927 bungalow home for two nights, two weeks or longer! This is a neighborhood full of friends of all ages who stop to chat in the twilight. Set your phone down, relax on the porch and let Leclaire take you to a simpler time. Inside, find two separate living rooms w/smart TVs. 2 Qn BDRMS downstairs, 2 twin beds upstairs. Full kitchen&bath stocked with essentials. Complimentary EV charging at N.O. Nelson campus. The space Leclaire Cottage was built in 1927 and exudes the charm of another era. The gently winding sidewalks invite you to stroll across the street to Leclaire Park. Whether it’s the play equipment, having a picnic or fishing in the pond that appeals, Leclaire Park has been greeting visitors to the area for well over a hundred years. You’ll find pictures of early visitors to Leclaire in the photos on the kitchen wall. In the back mud room you'll find a basketful of some items to use at the park - a football, frisbee, sidewalk chalk, etc. There is also sunscreen and insect repellent for children and adults, quilts and anything else I might pick up that seems like fun! Help yourself. The front porch is in the shade most of the day and is the perfect spot to relax and read a book, play cards or just enjoy the swing. Inside, you’ll find a curated selection of furniture that blends locally-sourced antiques combined with modern pieces to provide a homey, comfortable environment. You’ll love the classic warmth of the original wood trim and restored hardwood floors that give character to the main level as well as the newly carpeted upstairs living room, soft and perfect to play on. You can snuggle into the armchair or get comfy on the memory-foam twin mattress in the upstairs living room. However you choose to use it, having this second space gives your group plenty of options. If you don’t see your favorite board game pictured in the listing, let me know and I'll have it in the bench beneath the upstairs TV when you arrive! The Cottage offers a full kitchen and dining room. Gather round the classic Pennsylvania House table with seating for 8, perfect to host your family’s holiday meal or to use as a work space. If you find you’re in need of a cooking utensil or pan and don't see it, just call me! If I don't have one at my house you can borrow, I'll run to the store to buy one. This is a "borrow a cup of sugar" kind of neighborhood you're a part of when you stay at the Cottage. Get a great night’s rest in one of the main floor Queen bedrooms with spacious closets and dressers that invite you to unpack and stay awhile. Upstairs is a large bedroom with two twin beds, arranged on opposite walls to allow each guest as much area as possible to spread out. For your littles: a highchair, pack n play with additional mattress, fitted sheets, play saucer and other items are available for our youngest guests. Just let me know when you’re bringing a small child and I will make sure they’re right where you want them. We look forward to welcoming you to the Cottage and Leclaire!
