High Dale Park Barn: Built c.1650. Converted 1993.

Forget your worries in this spacious, serene and ultra-quiet valley. There are many walks and cycle tracks straight from the Barn door and we're only 3 miles from the popular medieval village of Hawkshead, 4½ miles from Windermere Ferry and less than 3 miles to Beatrix Potter's famous house at Near Sawrey. From the Barn, there is a pleasant path to Satterthwaite, where there is a pub and an excellent children's playground. Please note: Weekly or Fortnightly bookings run from SUNDAY to SUNDAY. The space The main entrance to the Barn is into the very large kitchen-diner, with a table large enough to accommodate eight diners. This leads into the lounge with a glorious, southerly view right down the valley. The lounge has plenty of comfy seating, a coffee table, TV and DVD player and a cosy wood-burning stove. All three bedrooms have views down the valley: The double has a standard size double bed; the twin has two standard size single beds and the bunk room has two adult-size bunks. Each bedroom has its own wash basin and shaver socket and every bed has individual bedside lights. There is also a panel heater in each bedroom. The bathroom has a bath, shower, wash basin, baby bath and heated towel rail. Guest access The whole of the Main Barn is self-contained and accessible. There are four shallow steps up to the main entrance and apart from three stairs (with bannister rail) on the landing, the Barn is all on one level. Other things to note We also let the Studio at High Dale Park which accommodates 2 (max.3). The Studio is part of the Main Barn and it can be let separately or together with the Main Barn because there is an internal staircase joining the two units together. To find a detailed description of the Studio, just search Airbnb by choosing a few days on the calendar and then enter the search term, "Satterthwaite" in the search box at the top of the page and choose "2" for the number of persons. Then, all being well, the Studio details should come up. The staircase has a fire door at the bottom of the stairs which is locked if the units are let to separate groups, or left unlocked if the Whole Barn is booked by one group. During peak weeks, i.e. Easter, July & August and Christmas time, we only let weeks at a time, no short breaks. For weekly bookings, changeover day is always on a Sunday. So if you wanted a week or fortnight during these periods, arrival would always be on a Sunday for seven nights.
