The space The Snug is a brand-new, self contained eco-friendly conversion designed by award winning architects, Gagarin Studio based locally in Hebden Bridge. Located in the historic rural village of Cragg Vale the Snug is nestled in woodland. Originally an outbuilding next to three 18th century weavers’ cottages built in Cragg Vale’s industrial textile mill hey day, the Snug has been lovingly converted into a peaceful haven amongst the trees and hillside to make the most of its location adjacent to the cottage garden. NB Not fully enclosed (dog owners please note). Bringing the Outside In... The picture windows, large skylights and bi-fold doors give the feeling of bringing the outside in, making it the perfect retreat from the outside world for couples or friends wishing to relax and enjoy the landscape in very comfortable surroundings. Immersed in light throughout the day the Snug is the perfect place to re-connect with nature, enjoy the views and explore the wonderful Calder Valley. The Scandi inspired interiors have been chosen to promote a sense of calm and wellbeing. Privacy blinds ensure a sense of peace and seclusion. A huge array of walks from the doorstep to suit all abilities, most notably the Cragg Vale Coiners walk inspired by the novel, Gallows Pole by Benjamin Myers now a BBC TV drama. Wild swimming spots a short walk away. Large King Sized Bedroom The Snug boasts a wonderfully tranquil king size bedroom with Simba mattress, 100% linen "Piglet in Bed" bedding, fully adjustable bedside lights and an assortment of books to browse. A very serene place to spend time relaxing. This peaceful room enjoys immersive woodland views through floor to ceiling picture windows and a feature skylight window to gaze at the stars. Hannah Nunn's beautiful 'paper meadow' wallpaper reflects the surrounding nature. Two large comfortable armchairs (originally from the Portico library in Manchester) and a small coffee table make this the perfect place to relax and unwind enjoying the views and birdsong. There is a large closet for storage and a desk if you need to work. Wall mounted adjustable flat screen TV with Netflix and Amazon Prime. Shower Room The Spanish themed shower room has a large walk-in monsoon Grohe multi-function shower, tiled floor with underfloor heating and heated towel rail. An electric thermostatically controlled radiator provides heat for when the fire is not lit. A foldable dining table and chair set is available to set up inside if chilly outside. Please note if used as a sleeping space there are blinds on the externally facing windows ensuring complete privacy but the blinds do not block out the morning light (we do provide eye masks!). We provide a generous basket of logs sufficient for several fires. Extra logs can be purchased at cost (£10 per basket). Outside Space A large covered veranda looking out to the cottage garden is the perfect place to spend warm evenings and provides a lovely cool space during the day. Large BBQ and ample garden seating. Small garden shed with picnic baskets & blankets etc. Dog owners please note that the garden is not enclosed or fenced so dogs need to be kept under close supervision or on lead as there is livestock in neighbouring fields. Wi Fi We have Wi Fi at the property which is not super fast but absolutely fine for streaming TV and playing music. Entertainment There is a Sonos Roam speaker which you can connect to via Bluetooth to play your favourite music. We will even send you a welcome playlist to help you settle in. The speaker is fully portable and can be used in the garden (when it's dry!) Guest access Guests have exclusive use of the whole property and the cottage garden immediately in front of the Snug. Dog owners please note that the garden is not fully enclosed or fenced so dogs need to be kept under close supervision or on lead as there is livestock in neighbouring fields. Other things to note Access to the Snug is via a single vehicle narrow steep track 0.3. miles from the main Cragg Road. The track is completely accessible in a normal car, but care should be taken if arriving at night or in bad weather. The TV is in the bedroom. Dog owners please note that the cottage garden is not fully enclosed and dogs need to be kept under close supervision when outside owing to livestock in neighbouring fields.
