Description
Perfect for hikers, mountain bikers, or families wanting a secluded rural Welsh getaway, Blaengawney Farm is set in the foothills of the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) with views over forests and valleys. Our farmhouse is located high in the Welsh hills surrounded by acres of orchards used to make our award-winning Hallets Cider. From here, enjoy the beautiful Monmouthshire & Brecon canal, explore Abergavenny, Usk, Crickhowell, and Caerphilly, hike Sugarloaf or ride the Tirpentwys Trails! The space The farmhouse is a spacious family home with 3 bedrooms (1 king, 1 double bed and 2 single beds), 3 bathrooms, an eat-in kitchen with a dishwasher, living room with a log burner and large separate dining room. There are two bathrooms on the first floor (one with bath and one with bath and shower) and another bathroom on the ground floor by the entrance with a shower. There is a very good wifi connection available in the house (we often work from here ourselves). The house has oil central heating throughout. You have access to extensive gardens on the farm which include 2 ponds and a BBQ area. The house is supplied with fresh spring water from the Welsh mountains. Our home is on the edge of the forestry and you can cycle or hike to Mynydd Twin-glas or Mynydd Maen straight from the farm. Our farm is a short drive to great mountain biking sites including Tirpentwys Trails, Cwmcarn Forest and BikePark Wales. The Cafall Rock Garden loop is on our doorstep. The property is accessed via a half mile farm lane (suitable for regular cars). There is no road noise on the property and it is not overlooked. Great to truly get away from it all. (And yes, the farm has been the filming location for several TV programmes including the first episode of Sam and Shauna's Big Cookout on the BBC. :-)) Note: There is an additional property available next door if you have a larger group. It's on Airbnb with the title "Mountainside bunkhouse/lodge for MTB/outdoors" in Crumlin. Guest access You will have the entire house to yourselves. There is ample parking onsite and bicycles can be stored in a separate secured space we have onsite if necessary. Other things to note The access track is unsurfaced but in good condition. One of the 3 bathrooms is downstairs, making easy access after a muddy walk or ride in the countryside. Hallets Cider is made unobtrusively next door in one of the barns.
