The space Welcome to Casita Colibrí, our hidden treasure. As you arrive, you'll discover your quiet, spacious private garden area and a comfortable outdoor deck featuring a queen-size day bed, hammock, and a captivating lake view. Step into a cozy living room adorned with floor-to-ceiling windows, a dining table, a sofa, and a fully equipped kitchenette with a refrigerator/freezer, electric countertop stove, plates, coffee machine, and drinking water from an Eco-Filter. Additionally, there's an electric kettle, glasses, cutlery, and cooking and serving utensils. The bedroom offers an extra-high king-size bed, allowing you to wake up to the stunning views of San Pedro Volcano and the majestic Lake Atitlan while sipping your morning coffee or tea. A spacious walk-in closet provides ample room for your luggage and clothing, along with a large safe for storing valuables like laptops. Enjoy the gorgeous, light-filled bathroom adorned with local art and plants. Please note that, as is common around Lake Atitlán and in many developing regions, there can occasionally be power outages or fluctuations in the internet connection. While the Wi-Fi works well for everyday browsing and emails, it is not always reliable for important video calls or continuous online work. For meetings or when you need a stable connection, we recommend purchasing a Tigo SIM card as a backup. WEATHER Lake Atitlán really has the perfect weather with no need for air conditioning or heating. The dry (and high) season is from November to April and the wet season is from May to October, when it rains mostly in the afternoons and evenings. The elevation of this area is 1565 metres. It is usually far warmer than what the weather forecasts says. It is hot, but not humid, every day from November to January. It feels like temperature is in the late 20sºC during the day - you can wear a summer dress or shorts and sandals without being cold. The mornings and nights are cooler - you’ll need a jumper and long trousers. In the afternoons it can get windy, so swims and boat trips are best in the morning when the lake is calmer. PLEASE NOTE The location shown on the Airbnb map is not entirely accurate. Despite several days of trying to resolve it with Airbnb, it has not been possible to correct it. Our casita is actually located near Café Tzunun, just a short walk away. Guest access Guests will be able to enjoy the entire property for themselves! Other things to note • Please note that our check-in time is from 3 to 6pm. We do NOT recommend arriving for the first time in Tzununá at nighttime, nor we take responsibility to assist you in case you do so. - Please note: The location shown on the AirBnb map is not entirely accurate. Despite several days of trying to resolve it with Airbnb, it has not been possible to correct it. Our casita is actually located near Café Tzunun, just a short walk away. · Casita Colibrí is located in a rural area of the country, so the water and electricity services may sometimes fail. We have recently added a water tank, which will be useful in case the public service fails. As for the internet, we do have WIFI (10MB download) -which is included in the price - but if you are planning to work online we also recommend to buy a Tigo SIM card to keep you safe in case there’s a power shortage! .If you are looking for a party location with lots of touristy restaurants and stores, then you are better off in San Marcos or San Pedro. Tzununa is still a very original place where mainly Mayas live. But of course there are also a few restaurants, cafés, Gaia Dance Temple, Fungi Academy, Love Probiotics (Friday Pizza Afternoon with live music), Karuna Atitlan (Sunday 12 - 3 pm Kirtan) etc. · Our property is surrounded by lots of vegetation, so you will see squirrels, butterflies, birds and other insects typical of the place and you might find occasional ants, garden spiders, scorpions (the sting is like that of a bee and not life-threatening) or harmless bugs around AND inside the house. While this is great for outdoors photographers, we understand this is not comfortable for all. Most critters keep to themselves and none are poisonous. Please take this into account before you book accommodation at the lake! If you have a fear of spiders, Lake Atitlán might not be the ideal vacation spot – it’s hard to avoid these eight-legged locals. - Local customs and culture: We would like to inform that in Guatemala holidays like Easter, Christmas and New Year etc. - the time around 15th of January as well as the yearly town celebration (around the first weekend in May), birthdays and other festivities are associated with fireworks, loud bangers/bombas and lots of loud music. Also, the church is very present, broadcasting their mass/sermon over loudspeakers from time to time in Tzununa. In times of the presidential election campaign in Guatemala (please see the corresponding dates on the Internet), more election propaganda is made with loudspeakers in all villages and towns. We ask you to take this into consideration, since we have no influence on it and it can be perceived as a nuisance for foreigners.
