Historic Room + Bath in Cottage with Cats
Description
This room & private bath are in a lovingly restored 1922 cottage in Atlanta’s West End Historic District, a short walk from the West End MARTA Station, numerous breweries, cafes, practical shops, and the Atlanta Beltline. The location is convenient to the rest of the city and the airport by MARTA, car, bike or on-foot. Many of our guests arrive in the city by plane and negotiate their stay without a car, made easy by close public transit and a walkable neighborhood. There are 2 cats. The space In keeping with the home's historic character, the room and bathroom are small but feature modern amenities, including a ceiling fan and reliable, high-speed wifi. All the furniture is quality 1920s/1930s antiques. The desk opens and is suitable for work as well as eating. There is a cabinet full of books guests are welcome to read (and return). The twin bed is outfitted with luxury percale sheets, a light or heavy comforter, and chenille coverlet, and pillows. Guests rave about the mattress and how well they sleep. Adjustable Venetian blinds cover the windows. There is a ceiling fan and a pedestal fan, for those who like air movement when they sleep. The rental is accessed by a side entrance (with security keypad) that leads into a foyer connected to the room. The private bathroom is accessed from a shared hallway connected to the room. Due to the age of the house and local regulations, none of the doors have locks. Rest assured we have never entered a guest’s room or bathroom. There are two cats. They are not allowed in the guest room or guest bathroom. We know that fresh air is important to many guests. The room has two operable windows and a medical-grade HEPA air filter. You may open the windows, but please lock them when you are away. Due to the age of the house, the room's floor is slightly uneven. It has been professionally repaired and leveled as much as possible, but it's not perfectly flat. The bed, however, has been adjusted to be perfectly level. In the kitchen, in addition the standard large and small appliances, guests will find a selection of premium ground coffees and teas, all free to use. Also: electric kettle, French/plunger press, Italian “Moka” espresso pot, teapot, teacups, and many mugs. Milk, sugar and artificial sweetener are there for use as well. All manner of dining and baking gear is also available. Guests who stay for three or more day may use the washer and dryer. We also have an outdoor clothesline and a drying rack. The house has a large front porch and a side patio, both with table and chairs, and can be enjoyed by guests. Guest access Guest room, private bath, kitchen, and other areas upon request. During your stay We recognize that some guests like to get to know their hosts, while others don’t. We go with the flow. Other things to note --West End-- West End is a safe neighborhood located approximately two miles southwest of Downtown Atlanta. The neighborhood pre-dates Atlanta, and a large section of it is a designated historic district, boasting many houses from the 1890s through the 1930s. The area is walkable, with well-lit, tree-lined sidewalks, crosswalks, and a mix of uses. Most of the area is residential, but there are also a few commercial areas, including Lee + White, a complex with dozens of restaurants, breweries, shops, plus a beer garden. There are several parks as well as the Atlanta Beltline, the multi-use trail that connects West End to the rest of the city. --Parking-- Parking is on-street, around the corner. There is on-site parking too, but only the smallest compact car will fit. There is an additional spot that can be used briefly for loading and unloading. --Public Transportation-- The house is very convenient to MARTA, Atlanta's public transportation system, which includes both heavy rail/subway and buses. West End station is just around the corner, accessible via a short walk. In addition, numerous buses operate out of the station, allowing visitors to reach other areas of the city. --Biking & Recreation-- West End is great for biking! The streets are generally low traffic and several of the higher traffic traffic streets (including the road the house is on) have bike lanes. The Atlanta Beltline, a multi-use trail encircling the city, can be accessed in just a couple of minutes by bike, delivering access to neighborhoods near and far. The Beltline is also great for running, jogging, rollerblading, walking, skateboarding, or any other type of non-motorized transportation. --Your Hosts-- This Airbnb is managed by friends Caleb and Wendy, both of whom have extensive knowledge of the city, local history and public transit. Caleb, who lives nearby, manages the property, while Wendy is the on-site host and lives here. We take pride in offering guests an authentic experience that celebrates the history of the house, the West End, and Atlanta. --The Cottage-- The cottage a historic 1922 bungalow and not only that, but the entire interior is in keeping with the 1920s and 1930s, with antique furniture, artwork, dishes, collectibles, etc. In addition, Wendy is a crafter and numerous examples of her embroidery, cross-stitch and other works are on display. —Cats— There are two cats, named Eggy and Nero. They are not allowed in the guest room or guest bathroom. They are indoor only. Registration Details STRL-2023-00078
