Pandavkathi is a true home stay where guests stay along with us, enjoy our rural konkani slow life... सुशेगाद कोंकणी जीवन..! Home is planned to maintain its traditional nature, yet to offer essential modern facilities. It is covered by the lush green coconut and areca nut farm , paddy fields and evergreen mountains which give experience of real Konkan. It is ideal for nature and peace lovers. Since we host only one group at a time, guests enjoy full privacy with unique memorable experience. The space Pandavkathi is located in Mundhar village which is at about 18 kms from Guhagar beach and 5 kms inside main Chiplun Guhagar road. All famous beaches and temples are within the radius of 30-35 kms from our stay. So guests can easily visit all these places and at a same time can avoid crowded stay over there. Home has two dedicated rooms for the guests on first floor with area of 300 sq ft each room. Both rooms have huge common balcony of another 300 sq ft with stunning view of adjoining farm and lush green mountains. This balcony is ideal for endless chats, playing cards or simply enjoying the nature sleeping on the relaxing chairs or reading your favorite book and many more!! Each room has a capacity of maximum four guests. So both rooms can comfortably accommodate eight guests. We allot one room for two to four guests and both the rooms for five to eight guests. As I said earlier, we host only one group at a time, if there are less than five guests in a group, another room is kept vacant.Each room has a attached toilet bathroom with all essential amenities like hot water, shower, towel and soap. As our home is a traditional konkani home, we have mangalore tile roofing. कौलारू घर. Tile roofing is a natural air ventilation and cooling system. Hot air passes outside through the gaps between the tiles and cools down the inner air in a natural way. That is why we do not have artificial air conditioning machine. But believe me, except 15-20 hot days in summer between 10th may till the onset of monsoon we have a very pleasant atmosphere here. Further home is surrounded by coconut and area nut farm नारळी पोफळीची बाग which is called as natural air conditioner by renowned writer and humorist पु ल देशपांडे ! Our place is free from network and light pollution too! so you will enjoy true peace here. we have installed minimal essential lights so that guests can enjoy star grazing activity and can also have the experience of dark nights. Though we do not have network connectivity at all, broadband internet connection is there to maintain contact with the outside world. But it is pertinent to note that since we are located at the remote place, there are chances of internet breakdown. We have six hours inverter backup for fans and lights. However, if power outage is due to some natural calamity and there are no chances of power restoration in a reasonable time, we give refund of the proportionate amount guest had paid and was forced to cancel the booking due to power outage. Pricing: Price stated here is for the per person including veg breakfast and one limited simple veg meal. It typically includes 2 chapatis or bhakri, one sprout or veg sabjis, green salad or raita and dal rice. Further details are provided in next paras Guest access Guests enjoy full privacy with separate and lockable access to the first floor two rooms. Guests can also have an access to dining area on ground floor of the home and surrounding farm. Ground floor is occupied by me and my family and is not accessible to the guests. We have separate kitchen for the guests. But they need to inform their willingness to use this kitchen well in advance so that we can arrange the minimal essential stuff. Of course at an additional cost. Per day rental of kitchen is Rs. 400/-. It includes cleaning charges of utensils and plates used, electricity and gas consumed. If guests wish to procure raw material from outside market and want our staff to cook it, will attract an additional cost of Rs. 600/- per meal for maximum 8 guests. Cost of raw material if ordered, will be charged on actual basis and is not included in the rent as stated before. We also have a traditional pool for watering plantations. It is filled with fresh water in front of guests. But it is important to note that we do not have commercial water filtering and purification system. Another thing to note is that it takes nearly 3 hours to completely fill the pool with water. In case if there is voltage problem, this pool is not usable. During your stay What type of guests we expect ? We expect here only peace and nature lover guests who want to spend their holidays in real konkan, to live konkan and to feel konkan. Guests can enjoy their holiday by actively participating in our life like morning walk through the jungle, dev rahati, bird watching , watering plants, some sweating farm activity etc. What type of guests should not come here ? Our home is not a resort or hotel or a private villa. So if you are just looking for a place in nature to consume alcohol , cigarette, chill for two days or have a party, my place is not for you. Our land is shared by lots of wild animals, reptiles , insects and trees. So if you want to live in nature but you don't want these co sharers to be there, this in not right place for you. Food- As stated before we serve veg konkani style food prepared using locally harvested crops. Food is cooked by local ladies. Since we are not a hotel or restaurant, guests are advised to specifically communicate about their food if they want anything special. Typical limited veg meal includes rice or ragi bhakari (roti), one sprout or vegetable sabji, one dal or pithla , pickle , green salad and dal rice. Guests can also have following konkan special itema at an extra cost. Extras - Bhakri - ₹30/- Poli- ₹20/- Rice -₹30/- Dal- ₹30/- Sabji- ₹30/- Modak- ₹60/- ( 2 with ghee) Buttermilk- ₹25 Solkadhi- ₹35 Season special - Raw cashew curry (ओल्या काजूची उसळ) - Jan to March - ₹250 for 3 guests Jackfruit sandan and Poori (फणसाचे सांदण आणि पुऱ्या) - March to May - 150- (10 puri or 10 pieces of Sandan) Mango pulp - हापूस आमरस पुरी- Mid April to Mid June. (₹60/- bowl ) All season Konkan Special- कुळीथ पिठले - curry of Horse gram which is protein reach food. उकडीचे मोदक - sweat dish prepared from rice floor and wet coconut. रस शेवई- sweat dist prepared from rice floor and coconut milk. सोलकढी - healthy drink prepared from coconut milk and malbar tamarind. घावणे- Dosa type breakfast dish prepared from rice floor served with coconut chutney. भाजणीचे थालीपीठ- paratha type breakfast dish prepared using mix dal floor served with coconut chutney and curd. Protein reach food. आंबोळ्या - fermented dosa type breakfast dish served with coconut chutney. If guests don't share anything about food, it will be presumed that they will be managing their food outside. Lunch, dinner and breakfast timings are fixed and to be strictly followed. Breakfast time - 9.30 am Lunch time - 12.30 pm Dinner time - 8.30 pm Other things to note Smoking and drinking is strictly prohibited Party , loud music is not allowed Loud conversations after 10 pm are not allowed Guests should take back all use and through type garbage and waste along with them as we don't have public waste disposal system. We dont offer room service. Being remotely located, guests should carefully follow directions given through direct messages. Only google location is not enough to find this place. Guests should not chek in after 6 pm as it is very difficult to find the place at night for the first time.
