The Shire at Fox Hollow
The Shire at Fox Hollow
Description
Serene, eco-friendly mountain retreat with spectacular views and meditative wooded trails on 100+ private acres in the heart of Virginia wine and horse country. The Shire at Fox Hollow is inspired by the English countryside with overtones of Middle-earth. It is surrounded by historic landmarks, nearby Sky Meadows State Park, wineries, and event venues. The chalet style house, nestled into the side of Little Cobbler Mountain, was built using stones gathered from the land on which it sits. The space Upon entering the house, the spacious great room is surrounded by 3 walls of windows looking out on the distant mountains. There is a working fireplace, Roku streaming TV, Bose Bluetooth sound-bar, and comfortable couches (one has a foldout bed) in two distinct seating areas. A separate dining area seats 8, and the fully equipped modern kitchen has granite countertops, 5 burner gas stove top, oven, dishwasher, garbage disposal, and large refrigerator freezer. The half bath and separate laundry area are just off the kitchen. All four bedrooms and three full bathrooms are upstairs and accessed off the second floor landing. The king bedroom with ensuite bathroom and the two queen bedrooms have French doors opening to the front balcony. There is a shared full bath a few steps away. The fourth bedroom has a queen bed and an xl twin day bed with an adjoining private full bathroom. There is underfloor radiant heat in the kitchen and all bathrooms. The house has central heating and A/C, a washer/dryer, and solar power battery backup system that powers the entire house. Power outages in the country are rare but they do happen with extreme weather. While outside enjoying the view of the Cobbler Mountain valley you can use the outdoor firepit and wood burning stove. The cleared area behind the house and up the hill offers even wider mountain and valley views. Guest access Guests have access to the entire house except the garage. The private property encompasses 100+ acres of wooded land which extends from the summit of Little Cobbler Mountain and descends down and gently transitions into a tranquil pine forest. Other things to note THE INS AND OUTS OF COUNTRY LIVING The house has it's own 300 foot deep, dedicated water well. The water is fresh and safe to drink but sometimes has a mineral or metallic tinge to it so we recommend using the Brita water filter stored in the refrigerator. The on demand hot water system ensures you will never run out of hot water when multiple people need to shower. WE GO TO GREAT LENGTHS to keep all country bugs outside of the house in their natural habitat. However, they can find their way inside, particularly when the weather is turning from warm to cold. The hand held mini-vacuum is a quick and effective way to remove little visitors. Getting here: The house is located halfway up Little Cobbler mountain and is surrounded by meadows and 180 degree views. Access is via a long, winding and well-maintained gravel driveway. It is steep near the top but still easily drivable. WIFI and TV: Only satellite internet is currently available for the house. Satellite internet WORKS WELL for answering and sending emails as well as for streaming movies and the home's Roku Smart TV. Satellite internet DOESN'T WORK WELL for Zoom meetings and wi-fi phone calls. There is a 2 second satellite delay in real time response. Verizon cell service and T Mobile cell service work well with your phone wi-fi turned off. Other cell providers may vary in coverage.
