Description

Enjoy a unique, disconnected glamping experience on our family farm. The cabin is nestled in a copse of sassafras and pines behind our art studio and greenhouses, accessible by path (approx. 100 ft.). Disconnect from the digital jungle, relax on the porch, read a book, take a pottery lesson, play classic board games, listen to records, or explore local attractions such as Cowan's Gap State Park or the EBT. The space The Space: The cabin is a small split level space with a bedroom (upstairs) and a living area (downstairs), which includes a kitchenette and a sitting area for eating. Each room is about 10' x 12' and is intended for couples. The bedroom has a queen size bed. There is a large porch in the front of the cabin as well as a sitting area in the back. Feel free to move the lawn chairs. The Kitchen Area: There is hot and cold running water and a kitchenette area for food preparation and cleaning. The kitchenette area comes with a microwave, hotplate, toaster, and electric water kettle. We also have a French press and drip coffee carafe. The Bathroom: Full bathroom with shower (10 gal. hot water heater), composting toilet, and sink. Rules for the composting toilet are listed above the toilet and will be explained to you upon arrival. It is essential that these rules be followed for sanitary reasons. If you have any questions during your stay about the toilet, please ask us. For guests staying multiple nights, the composting toilet will be checked and emptied daily. Amenities: We provide 1 set of sheets and towels, paper towels and toilet paper for guests. Other personal toiletries such as shampoo are not provided. Parking: The Cabin is accessible from the parking area behind the art studio (cream colored building with a green roof up on the hill to the left as you come up the driveway). You'll then take the path to the cabin. Internet Connectivity: As a digitally disconnected experience, there is no guest wifi on the farm. Cell Connectivity: Regarding cell service, some carriers (and phones) work better than others, although in general, expect spotty cell service traveling through the mountains of Appalachia. The host has no control over guests cell phone reception. Emergency: For emergencies, there is normally cell service at the top of the hill near the barn (there are chairs for sitting). However, even if you do not have a signal you can still call out on your phone. Carriers are required by law to route emergency calls on any available network even if its not your own. Also, you can also come and get us in case of an emergency and/or if you need access to a landline. Important Firm Rules: 1) We have a strict no smoking and tobacco use policy, a) for cleanliness of the cabin and for future guests, and b) because of the tobacco mosaic virus and potential infection of certain commercial crops that we grow. We reserve the right to ask guests to depart for violations of this policy. 2) The cabin has a maximum occupancy of 2 and the booking must include all guests. We cannot accommodate surprise additional guests or guest visitors. We reserve the right to ask guests to depart for violations of this policy. 3) We cannot accommodate pets. 4) No candles, fireworks, or open flames in or around the cabin. Guest access The Farm: We are happy to share the beauty of our farm with you and when you visit us, the cabin and the immediate space around it is your space to enjoy, and after check-in you can come and go as you please. Anything on the other side of the lane (right side as you're driving up) with the production fields and equipment are off limits without a guide present. Please be aware that this is a working farm and, thus, throughout the day people will be living and working on the farm. The Cabin: Please be aware that our cabin is a glamping experience, not a hotel experience, situated on a working family farm, and, unlike other Airbnb rural cabins, is not on a separate property with a separate access road. As such, there are no remote check-in options. All guests must be received at the studio and be given a guided tour of the cabin. In addition, as a glamping experience, the cabin and access to it (stone path), are not readily accessible for people with physical, movement impairing disabilities. Please bear this in mind when considering if this experience is right for you. The Art Studio: The studio is open to guests upon request if you wish to use the space for working on a project or study. Most guests that come tend to relax on the porch or in the sitting area behind the cabin. The tree line is more or less the boundaries of the property, but if you wish to see the farm proper (the barn, the fields, pond etc.) you must ask to have a guided tour. In order to adhere to safety regulations, production fields, workshops, and areas with machinery are off limits without a guide present. Farm equipment is strictly off limits to guests. Other things to note We established Green Heron Farm in 1984. We are a certified organic 11 acre vegetable farm and most of our activity is focused on wholesale and retail sales of vegetables. We offer on-site sales, so expect some traffic from neighbors stopping by to see what's in season. We offer some complimentary vegetable or fruit samples to guests when they arrive, but you can also purchase whatever we have in season during your stay. Local Attractions: 1) Cowan's Gap State Park 2) Raystown Lake 3) Orbisonia EBT (East Broadtop Railroad) 4) Standing Stone Hiking Trail (trailhead at Locke's Valley Road is about 4 miles from our farm) 5) Most popular restaurant - Wild Annie's (out by McConnellsburg)
