An elegant guesthouse with a large suite and private bathroom, separate from the main house. About 40 meters (120') from the Laguna Bacalar: Perfect for swimming, or just laying low, it is private and secure, has it's own entrance, and a kitchenette. About 1 mile to town. King bed. Boat and bicycle rentals are available very near our Casita. Everything is very clean and sparkles! The suite contains a sitting area and kitchenette with a medium sized refrigerator. There is a large deck that wraps around the Casita to enjoy relaxing and viewing the Lake. The swimming off the pier is wonderful, and the hammock is great for a nap or reading. The lovely grounds are very private, but there are neighbors on each side. The Casita has a beautiful private bathroom with a bathtub/shower. Drinking water is in the room. Guests are welcome to use all the beautiful property and the pier day or night. There is a parking space for a small car within our gate. We want to assure a quiet environment for our guests. We are happy to share a beer or coffee, and we can recommend good places to eat and visit in Bacalar. That said, although our property is quiet and very private, we have close neighbors on the Lake. It is like a little suburb of the town of Bacalar. We love that it is quiet and only a mile from town. The lake is great for swimming because it is not weedy here and is deep enough to swim. We are close to friendly folks who give boat tours of the lake, rent kayaks and bicycles and other boating equipment. A word of caution: we discourage being picked up or let off at our dock if there is a huge wind, and we don't allow sailboats to dock as the neighbor's pier is very close. The only public transit is taxis which we are happy to arrange. You can walk or ride bikes to most places in 10-20 minutes. A ride to the bus station is less than 10 minutes.. There are several restaurants within a half mile of our house. And many good ones in town, almost a mile from our house. Visiting the Cenote Azul, more than a mile away, is a real treat for eating and swimming. We have a wonderful old fort and museum to visit in the downtown area. We are happy to provide you with information for booking boat tours, renting kayaks, visiting archaeological ruins, finding cenotes, and guiding you for whatever it might be that interests you in the Yucatan. If you need a massage or pedicure, just ask us for information! When Ricardo and I are not on the property, our property manager Jacqui will be available to greet you upon your arrival and will happily supply you with information about Bacalar and about travel information and directions. We ask that prospective guests supply a profile picture and please tell us a little about yourself. That way we can get to know you in advance!
