Our house is nestled in the heart of SE Portland on a quiet street one block off popular Hawthorne Blvd. Surrounded by parks, cafes, funky shops, restaurants, and public transportation- all within walking distance- you'll find our apartment is perfectly situated for exploring the city of roses. Our private daylight basement apartment will be an excellent home base for your trip to Portland. The private entrance leads you into the kitchen that is well-equipped for all your basic cooking needs (chef knives, skillets, cutting board, dishes, flatware, etc.) A french press and kettle will start your morning off right, with local coffee beans and tea provided. Just past the kitchen is the main room with a bar height stainless steel table, perfect for gathering around over coffee/beer/wine, etc. There is a futon that can be made into a queen bed, a smart tv to stream your favorite shows, and a roll top desk. My favorite part of the apartment is the enormous bathroom with turquoise vanity that provides plenty of room for more than one person to get ready at a time. Body soap, shampoo, conditioner, a hair dryer, and towels are provided, if you want to leave these items at home. The main bedroom has a queen sized memory foam bed, organic cotton sheets, and bedside tables with reading lamps. The closet has plenty of room for your luggage and hangers to hang your clothes. The 2nd bedroom is smaller with a twin bed and room for a pop-up crib. Some guests have used this room as a workspace. Extra pillows, blankets and linens are available. If you are traveling with little ones we have a pack n play you may borrow to lighten your baggage load! You will be provided a unique code to unlock the keyless entry box on the door. No need to carry keys around! The apartment is accessed by walking up the driveway along the side of the house and through the back gate, where a short flight of stairs lead down to your private entrance. Guests are welcome to hang out on the covered back patio and deck. You have full use of the shared laundry room. We are busy yet responsive! If you need any assistance or recommendations, just message us. We live upstairs and are usually home, at work, or nearby in the neighborhood. Sunnyside Neighborhood in SE Portland is the sweetest spot to be. Situated one block off eclectic Hawthorne Blvd, you'll find yourself surrounded by some of Portland's finest places- Stumptown Coffee, Powell's Books, Por Que No, Apizza Scholls, Baka Ramen, Horse Brass, Belmont Station Bottle Shop, Gigantic Brewing, Baghdad Theater- to name a few. Many more lesser known, but equally stellar restaurants, shops and cafes await your visit, and we're more than happy to point you in the direction of a few we love. New Seasons Market and Grocery is just a few blocks away, if you need to grab a few food/drink items for the fridge. Just up the street to the east of us is Mount Tabor Park, a huge forested park on an extinct volcano. It's loaded with trails to explore and an awesome view of the city. To the west lies beautiful Laurelhurst Park with paved paths that curve amongst huge Douglas fir trees and around a pond. Both parks are nice destinations for a stroll or run. All in all, our neighborhood is where it's at! Our neighborhood is super walkable- that's why we love it. So ditch the car and get out on foot! In the event you have a car, there is plenty of free parking available along our street. If you enjoy bicycling, Portland is ranked one of the top bike friendly cities in the US. Check out Biketown- it offers electric bikes with baskets to rent with multiple pick up and drop off sites all around the city. So if you decide to bike to a location and then want to Lyft home, you can! Portland also has an excellent public transportation system called Trimet. All the timetables and maps are available on its website or app. Uber and Lyft are widely used too. We live in the main house directly above the apartment, so while we take care to be respectful of our guests, hearing some occasional noise is a given. We’re usually not home during the day and asleep by 10 pm.
