Description
Le Petit Jardin is a light, spacious apartment that combines the ambiance of original, historic features with the comforts of modern living. On the lower ground floor of a lovingly restored, characterful village house set in the ramparts of Sablet, a picturesque Provençal village, it's within easy strolling distance of all local amenities. Its west-facing entrance is on a pretty, cobbled square with cypress and mulberry trees and a panoramic viewing point across the valley. The space BED LINEN, TOWELS & END CLEAN ARE ALL INCLUDED IN THE PRICE. Original archways and exposed stone are just some of the authentic features of this home - the bedroom is in a turret, one of a number to be found in the 15th century ramparts of this picturesque Provençal village. The fully-fitted kitchen is modern, spacious and includes a dining area. The inside seating area is bright and roomy, with a big French window looking out over the neighbouring terracotta rooftops and plane tree, so typical of Provence. The shower room has a large walk-in shower, sink and wc. There is also a desk in the hallway for setting up your laptop (don't forget you're on holiday!) Guest access As a medieval village, Sablet retains its authenticity and quaintness. This does mean that access by car into the old quarter is limited due to the narrow streets, designed for horses and people rather than cars! Access to Le Petit Jardin is on foot via the Place des Barrys but you can drop off luggage by car if necessary, in front of the nearby, historic, covered archway, le Petit Portail, from where Le Petit Jardin is just a short walk. Free parking in the village is within a two-minute walk from the Le Petit Jardin. I have secure storage for bicycles. Other things to note Sablet is a picturesque Provençal village, set against the stunning backdrop of the craggy, dramatic Dentelles de Montmirail, nestling in the foothills of the Mount Ventoux and surrounded by beautiful terraced vineyards. It has quite rightly been described as a vibrant, welcoming, authentic village. Le Petit Jardin is right in the heart of the old village and within easy strolling distance of all local amenities for daily living (café/bar, bakery, pharmacy, newsagents, florist, butchers, mini-supermarket, hairdresser, library and the Tourist Office where you can enjoy a degustation of local wines – Sablet has an abundance of wine producers!). The local shopkeepers are friendly and helpful. You will always receive a very warm welcome from Bruno at the Café des Sports where you can sit on the terrace with a coffee, a meal or a glass of wine and soak up daily village life. Sablet has a small market every Friday morning on the main square where you can buy a range of fresh produce: fruit, vegetables, fish, cheese, pasta and sauces. The village also has an excellent medical centre with doctors, dentists and pharmacy. Vaison-la-Romaine is the nearest town, only a 10 minute drive away and where there is a wealth of Roman ruins to explore, restaurants to suit all tastes, characterful café terraces and a vibrant boutique culture. It also boasts one of the biggest Provencal weekly markets in the region - a wonderful journey for the senses. THE 2024 OLYMPIC TORCH ROUTE IS CLOSE BY. This is an area renowned for hiking, cycling, fishing, tennis (there is even a small club in the village) and a little further afield, rock climbing and kayaking. Within an easy drive, you have the beaches, towns and coastline of the Mediterranean, the fabulous flora and fauna of the Camargue (just one of 6 regional natural parks of Provence), the Ardèche Gorges and so much more...For avid followers of the Tour de France, the iconic Mont Ventoux is within easy access. For city-lovers, we have Orange with its unique and splendid Roman amphitheatre which is still used as a major venue for cultural events and concerts; Avignon, with its magnificent Popes’ Palace and famous bridge; Aix, with its dramatic Mont St Victoire backdrop, stunning light and cherished links to famous artists like Cézanne and Vasarely ; Arles, with its Van Gogh trail and the Rhone river; Les Baux de Provence with its spectacular Carrières de Lumières show and art galleries… And, of course, in the later summer months, the wonderful lavender fields of Provence are also within easy reach - not to be missed!
