Skyefall, Tinderbox Tasmania home of amazing views

Skyefall in Tinderbox is the Tasmanian home of 2 French academics where they spend a few months a year. As academics they have been working on the records of the 18th century exploration and the first contact with the aboriginal people; as well, as helping with the conservation of historical sites particularly at Recherche Bay. They chose Tinderbox because of the abundant wildlife, nature, stunning views overlooking the Derwent River and being less than 30 minutes from Hobart. The space Skyefall is nestled at the top of a hill next to the Tinderbox Reserve with its undisturbed conservation area of old-growth trees. This reserve is known as a home for woodland birds including the critically endangered Swift Parrots and the Forty-spotted Pardelote. Skyefall's views extending north towards Blackman's Bay , east across to Opossum Bay and south to the light house on the Iron Pot rocks at the entry to the Derwent River. Staying at Skyefall you are only a few minutes drive away from the Tinderbox Marine Reserve, where unique and endemic species such as the Bigbelly Seahorses, Wrass, Trumpeter, and kelp forests can be seen when snorkelling or diving. Later in the afternoon on a walk around the property you may cross paths with and Echidna, Eastern Quoll, Eastern Barred Bandicoot, Tasmanian Bettong or Long-nosed Potoroos. You can also check out the Wollemi pine; one of the world's oldest plants that is growing on the property. As dusk arrives, sip a glass of wine under the intrigued gaze of a flock of Wallabies close to the deck. After sunset, on a lucky night, you may experience the magic of the southern lights, Aurora Australis. It may be then time to retreat inside to the comfortable sofas to watch TV or examine some of the original portraits of the indigenous people from the 19th Century, Tasmanian photos and old ethnographic artefacts from New Guinea.
