We will help you experience the lifestyle of Yame Fukushima. Please come & enjoy conversation with the people of the town and encounter new scenery. It has been blessed with rich agricultural products, supported by the fertile plains of the Yabe River basin, rolling hills, and vigorous flood control and water utilization. The space From the late Edo period to the Meiji period (1868-1912), a variety of local specialties were developed, including handmade washi paper, stone lanterns, Buddhist altars, and chochin lanterns, which are still passed down today as traditional craft industries. The townhouses that remain in the Fukushima area today are the last witnesses to the relationship between industry, production, and buildings. 【COVID-19 Measures】 ・Regular disinfection is provided in common areas. ・Adequate ventilation is provided in all rooms. ・Our cleaning staff always wear masks and gloves, while sanitizing the rooms using alcohol and other effective means (including remote controls, wall switches, doorknobs, etc.). ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー -TOMOE- This is the former Otsubo House, which used to be a merchant dealing in Yame tea, konyaku potatoes, and other mountain products. Over 100 years old and once in danger of collapse, it was rebuilt by local businesses and volunteers who preserve the townscape of Yame Fukushima, as well as by masters of traditional architecture. The house is named after the family crest of Yoshimasa Tanaka, an expert in designing and building the country of Chikugo at that time, who also contributed a lot to the development of Yame Fukushima.
