Cabin in Aspers
Description
Welcome to our totally private, completely charming mountaintop hideaway! Note: An AWD or 4WD vehicle is required to access this cabin. Do not book unless you are driving an AWD or 4WD vehicle. The main cabin structure itself is a Chestnut Log Home originally built in 1855. Great for a romantic getaway or for a small family. We love relaxing by the campfire, stargazing, hiking, ATVing, and enjoying nature. We regularly spot deer, turkeys, and groundhogs roaming freely on the 22-acre property. The space Important Note: An AWD or 4WD vehicle is required to access this cabin. Do not book unless you are driving an AWD or 4WD vehicle. The cabin is on an unpaved road that's about a mile-long and very steep. Our charming, cozy cabin has been outfitted with the modern conveniences you need to relax. The cabin feels completely private and remote, yet it’s only a short drive to Gettysburg or Michaux State Forest. Update (6/1/2023): We now have an automatic backup EcoFlow battery just in case there’s a storm that causes a power outage. The cabin is divided into two floors: Downstairs: There's a full kitchen, living room, mud room with washer/dryer, and a full bathroom. The living room has a smart TV w/most streaming platforms, X-Box One & 360, record player with assorted records, DVD player and a small collection of DVDs, books, games and puzzles. The La-Z-boy couch pulls out into a queen size bed. The vegan leather couch also opens up to a full size bed (click-clack style). Upstairs: There's an open loft office/yoga room, the main bedroom, and a full bathroom. The main bedroom upstairs has a comfortable, customizable Queen size SleepNumber bed. The open loft office area upstairs can also be outfitted with air mattresses if needed. 2 Full Bathrooms: The Downstairs Bathroom has an antique clawfoot tub with hand shower, while the Upstairs Bathroom has a standing shower stall. Breakdown of Sleeping Areas: Main Bedroom (upstairs): One Queen Bed (SleepNumber) sleeps 2. Open Room (upstairs): This space can hold any combo of air mattresses if needed. We have 2 Twin 16.5” high self-inflating air mattresses (each sleeps 1). This room can be made more private using our wooden divider screen if desired. Note: Air mattresses won't be set up unless requested. Living Room (downstairs): If needed, this room can be divided into two separate spaces with another wooden screen. The La-Z-boy couch pulls out into a Queen bed (there’s a mattress topper for it in the upstairs closet; sleeps 2). The leather couch also folds open and can sleep 1 or 2 people. Accessibility: The cabin is wheelchair accessible from a side ramp off the back door if needed, though there are two interior steps leading to the living room. No hunting on the property. Thank you! Guest access Entire cabin except the basement Other things to note Because this is an antique one-of-a-kind cabin from 1855, we should note that there are several low beams and points where anyone over 5’3” will need to duck. It’s quirky, but quaint and cozy!
