The Ryeland Shepherd Hut Retreat

Get away from it all when you stay under the stars in our beautiful solid Oak clad Shepherd hut. Hand crafted on site by the owner. Off grid, eco friendly, secluded site set within its own gated paddock and surrounded by mature native hedges and trees planted by the owners. The Ryeland has a kitchen with two ring hob, oven and grill, a pull out king size bed, cozy log burning stove, en suite shower and waterless toilet. Outside the hut is a wooden gazebo and picnic table with BBQ. The space The Ryeland Hut is situated in a secluded, private paddock surrounded by native trees at various stages of maturity and grassy clearings. The paddock sits within a larger small holding mostly used for grazing with a grass trail all around the property. The owners have created a beautiful haven for people and wildlife having engaged in several conservation projects for tree and hedge planting, habitat creation and two wildlife ponds. They keep horses, goats and sheep and also run a range of holistic retreat and wellbeing modalities including Equine Facilitated Interactions, Reiki, Sound Healing and Flower Essences. The owners live nest to the farm entrance and when guests first arrive in the farm yard they will see a range of farm buildings incorporating stables plus a self catering holiday barn. The Ryeland Hut is reached via a gravel and then grass track and your host will normally arrange to take you to the hut with your luggage via golf buggy or it is a short walk. Generally guests are encouraged to park on the farm yard rather than driving down to the site due to pedestrians and animals occasionally being on the tracks. New for 2025 we have introduced a log burning hot tub. Currently this may be listed as included for a higher nightly fee on one or two other platforms but we have chosen not to do this on Airbnb yet as many of our guests come with their dogs and are not interested in the hot tub so we didn’t want to automatically raise the price to include it giving people the choice. It can be booked as an add on and paid for on arrival direct with the host or I can send a custom offer to include it with your booking so do please message me if you’d like more details of that. Guest access The Ryeland hut has its own private area, formerly shared with our other listing the Shepherds Belle tent, but for 2025 season the tent is unavailable and is instead being used as a relaxation space in conjunction with our newly installed log burning hot tub which Airbnb guests can book as an add on either as a custom offer or direct on arrival. This we feel gives our guests a great deal of exclusivity and privacy in what is a very large and beautiful enclosure all to themselves. They are also welcome to explore the wider farm and see our animals. We just ask that dogs are to be kept on lead near any livestock. It is a short walk or golf buggy ride to and from the car park which is situated in the farm yard. Other things to note Oaksbrook Retreat is a well-being farm and your host is qualified in a number of holistic modalities such as Equine Facilitated Interactions, Reiki, Flower Essences and Sound Healing among others.
