This unforgettable nest high above the forest floor is your opportunity to take flight. Endless trails give you access to natural views and experiences. Snowshoes provided, then spend your evening up on the deck around the tree top propane fire pit. Cook your meals in the outdoor kitchen or on the wood burning stove in the Trapper's TENT. Eat inside or out under the sky, then curl up in the luxurious queen bed to rest up and do it again tomorrow! The space After two years of building, and our first year hosting, we couldn't be happier about sharing our labour of love! MUST READ thoroughly before booking. ** We want all our guests to be sure this booking is right for you. ** You are booking an off-grid TENT high above the ground with a private outhouse. If you enjoy camping, this may be one of your most amazing experiences ever! ACCESS to The Fir and Feather Trappers Treehouse requires: - gentle off road driving (4 wheel drive best in winter) - forest walking (5 minutes) - bridge crossing - no ladder to climb (although not a suspension bridge, bridge swaying is natural due to the engineering required to ensure there are no binding connections to the moving treehouse platform) IN COLDER SEASONS: - start and stoke the wood burning stove for your heat, both day and night (with a little buddy heater to take the chill off while you get it going) - wood is provided but you may need to chop smaller pieces or make kindling depending on your length of stay. You will also need to wake up during the night to add wood, if you want to maintain warmth for the morning. *****READ BEFORE BOOKING***** We DO NOT provide - internet - running water - electricity (bring a power pack for phone back up) - cooler space (leave your cooler in the car) ***carry just what you need for a meal *** There is a 5 gallon pail where you can hang food and cold packs. We DO provide IN WINTER: - 2 pairs of snowshoes - sled to pull your belongings from the parking area - Big Buddy heater and propane for temporary heat while lighting the wood stove - hot water reservoir attached to wood stove, for use when stove is lit OUTSIDE all year long - magic OUTHOUSE: designed to make you smile - solar motion light inside - hand sanitizer and toilet paper - lockbox for securing valuables - storage for snowshoes CHOPPED WOOD: - for use ONLY inside the wood burning stove *** NO BONFIRES *** in the forest - ax for making smaller pieces and kindling - solar motion light PROPANE and FIRE BOWL: - OUTDOOR use only, on uncovered deck OUTDOOR KITCHEN: under cover on the outdoor deck with solar light - two burner camp stove with propane - pots, utensils, serving dishes, kettle, coffee percolator - potable water, wash station with supplies - salt, pepper, steak spice, tea, oatmeal, margarine or oil - 2 smell proof 5 gallon pails with bags for temporary garbage, food and other scented item storage ELECTRIC FENCE: used during 3 seasons - An electric fence surrounds the bridge, outhouse and treehouse to allow for cooking on the treehouse platform. You control use of the electric fence. Bears are in the area. Smell proof containers, accessible from the treehouse, are also hung from trees to contain food and garbage. INSIDE all year long: - queen bed with linens, pillows, blankets, and 2 pairs of cozy slippers - night stands with battery powered bedside lights - wood burning fireplace with wood, starter and tools - hanging solar light with switch - table and two chairs - two folding end tables for use inside or out - Emergency exit with rope ladder - Carbon monoxide detector YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR: - Bring only what you need. Pack lightly. - bike security (ie: a lock to use around a tree) - a flashlight, if arriving after dark. (contact us, if you need to borrow one) - small freezer pack to put with food in the smell proof bin - phone powerpack back up - food and coffee :) Guest access Guests have access to the private treehouse and outhouse. You also have shared access to the parking area used by guests of our two off-grid cabins. Other things to note The extensive Golden Cycling Club trail system leads off our land and can take you all the way to Kicking Horse Resort. Available on TrailForks, these public trails are used for biking, hiking, jogging, snowshoeing, gentle back country skiing up Canyon Creek, and some horse trail riding (limited trails).
