Description

Ruby Retreat is a unique Shepherd's Hut hand built in larch, cedar and ash by local carpenter, Peter Milner. His skilled design and craftsmanship gives Ruby a very special feeling. She is brand new for 2023. She sits in her own secluded position on a working Devon farm. The views over the glorious Devon hills are truly captivating. There is nothing to distract you from gazing at the fields, hills, woodland and distant church spire (well, maybe some sheep and lambs frolicking). The space Ruby has everything you need. Under the comfortable double bed, which has crisp White Company linen, there is a fitted tubular heater which is always on. There is a wood burner ready to be lit, for atmosphere as well as warmth. There is a well equipped kitchen. Tea, coffee, oil and seasonings await you. There is a hob and air fryer. If you wished you could retreat for the length of your stay. Another of Peter Milner’s specifically designed and handbuilt creations is the warm and cosy bathroom. This is accessed along a timber deck. Although this access is a matter of a few steps along the front of Ruby, robes are provided to ensure you stay warm. Sensor operated lights mean you don’t even have to flick a light switch. Guest access There is an outside table and fire pit provided on Ruby’s Mediterranean style garden area. The stable door and windows ensure you get to enjoy the views, even when the sun isn’t shining. The view as you wash the dishes will make even this task a pleasure. A short amble across the field directly in front of the hut takes you to a wildlife pond. This is a great place to sit in the evening sun surrounded by nature. Other things to note Dartmouth and the glorious coastline of South Devon are close by. Dartmoor National Park is approximately 10 minutes away. There are beautiful lanes to be walked from Ruby’s front door or you are welcome just to enjoy our farmland. Because this farmland is used for sheep and lambs we regret that Ruby is unsuitable for dogs. She is also not suitable for babies or children. This break is all about you. Early check in could be available please enquire first before booking.
