Eagle Trace is built in the townhouse style, with units that are two-bedroom, sleeping 8-12. They can be separated into 2 one-bedroom units, one upstairs and one on the lower level. Both units are sizeable, impeccably designed, and have their own deck and fireplace. Located against the scenic backdrop of the Shenandoah National Park, Massanutten vacation rentals provide the perfect base for discovering this stunning corner of Virginia. As you enter, it’s hard to imagine you’re less than 20 miles from the nearest Interstate. The four-season ski resort is one of the main visitor draws in the area, benefiting from a dramatic setting near the southern peak of Massanutten Mountain and a wealth of family-friendly attractions, while the Massanutten section of the Appalachian Trail is popular with hikers and bikers. The Massanutten WaterPark is a favorite family day out for locals and visitors alike. This extensive facility offers a variety of exciting activities for all ages and swimming abilities, from colorful inflatables to thrilling slides. The water is heated to a constant temperature, so it doesn’t matter what time of year you plan to visit (seasonal hours/days of operation apply). All-day passes offer unlimited use of all the rides, with reduced admission after 5 pm, and there are catering outlets on-site to complete the fun. The Massanutten Trail winds through the George Washington National Forest, providing a range of looping paths of varying lengths. Its northern peak is crowned by Signal Knob—a steep climb to an elevation of over 2,000 feet. Your remaining breath will be taken away by the sight of the lovely Shenandoah Valley stretching far into the distance. The Massanutten Trail can also claim an illustrious history, as in parts it follows the route of a road commissioned by George Washington as a potential retreat during the Revolutionary War. The trail is maintained by the Potomac Appalachian Trail Club, which publishes maps and guidebooks. Having a car is best. Parking is free!
