Peaceful upstate oasis: hiking, skiing, nature Escape to this stunning loft apartment in restored 1820 home, nestled in the Hudson Valley’s most beautiful hamlet. Perched behind a babbling creek, the house is a 2-minute walk to fantastic hiking trails and a majestic waterfall. Swim in the nearby lake, snowshoe in winter, birdwatch in the miles of preserved forest. Curl up with a glass of wine and watch the stars. Please note: for safety and other reasons, we cannot accept minors or pets. The space The home features mid-Century furniture and artwork from around the world to provide creative inspiration. The only thing you will hear are birds and the murmur of the waterfall behind the house. Hi-speed Wifi allows for remote work. The huge loft has an ensuite bathroom with shower. We provide a counter-top oven/microwave, mini fridge, kitchenware, coffee/tea, linens/towels, shampoo, soap, conditioner. Please note that the double bed is actually two singles pushed together. Guest access We live on the second floor and share the main entrance. You may hear us walking about. Other things to note The village has no grocery store but hosts can stock the fridge or serve you a meal or signature cocktail for an added fee. (Judith is a mixologist) An assortment of nearby farm-to-table cafes with artisanal offerings are open Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings and for Saturday brunch. (Kuhars, Be Golden Farms and The Beaver Pub) Other restaurants are a short hop away. We are a 2 ½ hour drive from Manhattan, or a scenic 2-hour train to Hudson, then a $60 taxi ride. For longer stays, the hosts can arrange pickup/drop off at the station. The hosts are a Dutch-American couple who worked as foreign correspondents around the world and between them speak 7 languages.
