Description

Relaxed comfort meets real farm life at the Coach House, an artfully restored 1870s heritage stay on a working sheep farm. Soaring beams, crackling fires, & generous spaces made to share. Roam the gardens, meet the Highland cows, take a farm tour, pluck an egg straight from the henhouse & watch the sun rise & fall over the mountains. Use this as your base to explore nearby walks, waterfalls, Mole Creek Caves, Cradle Mountain, Trowunna Wildlife Park, the award-winning Tasting Trail & more. The space Tucked beneath Tasmania's Great Western Tiers on a working sheep property, the Coach House is a rare blend of heritage character and spacious, practical comfort. Originally built in the 1870s, The Coach House has been artfully restored to welcome families, friends, and groups who value shared meals, fresh air, and time together. The house comfortably sleeps up to 14 guests across four flexible bedrooms: two private queen master rooms — the ‘Sandstone Room’ with its own wood fire and sandstone floors, and the ‘Mountain Room’ with a verandah and views to Mother Cummings Peak. There’s also a mezzanine loft, and a large bunk room with two oversized (firm, super-king+) canvas bunks. The loft sits above the kitchen and is accessed via an attic ladder; it’s open to the living area and best suited to agile sleepers. The bunk room includes sleeping bags with fresh laundered cotton liners, great for children, teens, and those who like to relive the childhood memories of camp and giggling into the darkness with friends. There are two crackling wood fires, soaring timber beams, and generous spaces designed for shared meals and slow mornings. The open-plan living area leads out to a large lawn where kids (and adults) can run free or enjoy outdoor games. The kitchen is modern, well-appointed, from the Paul Bocuse oven to the fully stocked spice cabinet, and designed to make feeding a crowd a pleasure, not a chore. A hamper of some of our favourite local staples will be waiting in the kitchen for you when you arrive. The main bathroom has a deep bathtub with views across paddocks to Quamby Bluff. The living room contains a library of thoughtfully chosen books and games for quiet afternoons. Curl up with a book, play board games by the fire, or enjoy a cosy movie night using the Chromecast-equipped TV. Outside the Coach House, you are already surrounded by fresh mountain air and open skies. If you are keen to stretch your legs without leaving the property, take a wander through The Park — our open parkland with towering Macrocarpas, colourful Beech trees, Chestnuts and old Oaks from the last century, framing views of the surrounding mountains, valley and historic Villa and Chapel. Ask for a guided farm tour to meet the Highland cows, collect warm eggs from the henhouse, pick vegetables from the garden to take back for your dinner (depending what's in season at the time!), or simply enjoy a sunset wander through the historic precinct and gardens. From heritage charm to practical comfort, the Coach House brings together all the essentials for a memorable country stay. Guests often base themselves here to explore the Great Western Tiers, Cradle Mountain, local waterfalls, Mole Creek Caves, and the Tassie Tasting Trail and always say they wish they had stayed longer! Wesley Dale — the farm, the property and its buildings — has been a labour of love for our family. It is our home, our livelihood, and a place that we share with pride. We look forward to enjoying the wonder with you soon! Guest access Enter up the long, traditional English Hawthorn Hedge lined driveway until you reach The Chapel. Turn left and drive through the Parkland until you reach the second house on the left - The Coach House. Please note this is a shared driveway - with our family, other residents on the farm, as well as for farm machinery and if you are lucky, animals being moved. The 'Parkland' is the space between the Coach House and the Chapel and you are free to roam here at your own leisure, along with the lawns surrounding the Coach House. We ask you to park beside the Coach House gate, but please not inside it. We will provide a map upon your arrival.
