Cosy Cottage in Wadhurst
Cosy Cottage in Wadhurst
Description
Hosted by Andy & Jackie. 1 Tilehurst Cottages is one of four cottages, built around 1800, for local farm workers. Recently refurbished throughout, but still retaining its charm and character – low ceilings and doorways, and wonky walls – it offers cozy, comfortable, accommodation for 2 people. Five minutes’ walk from the heart of the village, set in the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, it offers superb views across the fields. Bewl Water is a 1.5 mile walk away by public footpath. The space Downstairs The lounge offers a sofa and armchair, Freeview TV, and DVD player. The TV is fitted with an Amazon Firestick, giving access to Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, and other catch-up TV services (BBC i-player, ITV X, etc.), but you will need your own log-in details. Two mains power sockets each have two USB charge points. The kitchen is fully equipped, with hand-built kitchen units, double electric oven, induction hob, microwave, kettle, and refrigerator with a small freezer compartment. Teacloths, dishcloths, and washing-up liquid are provided. The conservatory at the rear has a dining area with table and chairs, and a breakfast bar with toaster and coffee maker. Under the breakfast bar are the fully-enclosed washing machine and tumble dryer. There are also two large comfortable cane chairs – perfect for lounging in. Tea bags, various taste coffee pads, sugar, and condiments, are provided. Upstairs The bedroom has a king-size bed, with two small bedside-tables, a wardrobe with hanging space and hangers, and a dressing table with drawers. There is also a folding suitcase stand for convenience when unpacking – can be stored in the wardrobe or under the bed when not in use – and empty suitcases can be stored under the bed. A hairdryer is provided, with a mains socket to the right-hand side of the dressing table. Two mains power sockets either side of the bed each have two USB charge points. The bathroom has a walk-in shower, toilet, wash basin/vanity unit, and a bathroom cabinet with lights and internal shaver point. There is also an electrically- heated, thermostatically-controlled towel rail. Gas central heating with Hive controller, electricity, cotton bed-linen, bathroom towels/flannels, and Wi-Fi are all included. Outside Outside is a small fenced (approx. 1 metre high), lawned garden, and a small patio area with a table and chairs, where you can sit and enjoy the view over the fields, and even watch the sunrise if you’re up early enough in the summer! Other things to note: Up to 2 dogs are welcome, but sadly we cannot accommodate Giant breeds; please be aware that dogs are not allowed on the bed; should your dog be used to lying on the sofa or chair, please ask for a dog blanket. Dog bowls and towels (for those inevitable wet paws!) can be provided upon request. Off-road parking is available by prior arrangement with the owners. Low ceilings and doorways throughout! Guest access You will have access to the whole property - house and garden - but not the workshop at the top of the lawn. Other things to note We will try to be there to welcome you, but self-check in is available if not. There is a Co-Op supermarket almost opposite, open from 7am until 10pm. There are folders containing Tourist Information leaflets for you to browse through, along with menus for local takeaways, under the shelving unit in the front room. There is also a Visitors book available for you to sign, if you so wish.
