Peaceful cosy retreat, views over Quantock Hills

A cosy country retreat, on the edge of the beautiful village of Over Stowey, with stunning views over the Quantock Hills - the perfect location for those looking to enjoy the great outdoors whether in the hills or by the sea, or maybe you’re just looking for a quiet peaceful spot to relax and unwind. The Milking Parlour has been lovingly converted to the highest standards from the old stone dairy barn in 2021/22. We aim to provide a unique and comfortable place for our guests to enjoy. The space Set in 8 acres of fields and pasture, The Milking Parlour is part of the old dairy barns converted into a home in 2022. Inside, exposed stone walls, oak beams and industrial fittings all bear witness to the history of the Milking Parlour. The bedroom contains a super-king sized bed or you can choose two full sized singles if required (please let us know in advance). The bathroom has a roll top bath with a drench shower over. The hallway has plenty of space for muddy boots, coats and hanging dog leads! The living room is open plan kitchen, dining and comfortable sitting area with a Smart TV and free dedicated high speed wifi throughout the building. (There is patchy 4G reception, so you may need to rely on the internet for communications). The whole building has zoned underfloor heating to keep the flagstone and oak floors cosy and warm. Guest access The Milking Parlour is a completely self contained semi-detached barn with it's own private front door and private fenced garden. The owners accommodation is adjoining, but completely separate and not intrusive. Depending upon what is happening around the rest of the property at the time of your visit, it is usually possible to walk round much of the land with the permission of the owners. Other things to note This is a rural location. You will need a car here as we are not well served by public transport. The nearest local shops are in Nether Stowey (1.5 miles) where you will find a well stocked convenience store, a post office, butchers and 2 pubs, along with the National Trust Property Coleridge Cottage. A detailed guide book is provided with lots of information about the areas facilities, walks, pubs etc. The nearest towns are Bridgwater and Taunton both 20-30 minutes drive.
