Clean, comfortable, and convenient apartment in a nicely maintained condominium complex with pool and a private, staffed ocean beach. The space San Marino is part of the larger Playa Dorada development containing several hotels and condos, a golf course and a long stretch of quiet ocean beach. The apartment overlooks the large pool and is a short walk from a deeded private beach, where the condo maintains a restaurant, beach chairs, umbrellas, bathrooms and rinse-off showers. It is easy to spend the entire day at the beach eating, drinking, swimming and strolling without ever returning to the apartment. Just outside San Marino's attended gates is Playa Dorada's tiny mall (with a small, two-screen, first run movie theater) and the golf course's main clubhouse (with a decent restaurant, driving range, golf lessons and access to the 18-hole course). There are several other restaurants within walking distance, including a terrific pizza/Italian that delivers. Car rental kiosks, ATM's and souvenir shops are all steps away at the mall. A 24-hour medical office is around the corner. Playa Dorada is 20 minutes west of Puerto Plata airport by cab or car and 20 minutes east of the colonial city of Puerto Plata, with its fortress museum, new concert amphitheater, traditional town square, restaurants and an enormous, modern supermarket to stock the apartment's kitchen, fill a prescription or find just about anything you might need. Further east along the airport highway are the towns of Sosua and Cabarete, with beautiful beaches, world-famous kite surfing, great dining and nightlife - all easily reachable by car, taxi or even local bus. A fun outing nearby is the cable car to the top of Monte Isabel Torres, with its commanding views of the ocean, hills and towns. For families, Ocean World offers a full day of dolphin encounters, shows, snorkeling and water slides. The apartment is simple and comfortable for couples or small families seeking a relaxing getaway - a quiet spot with easy access to much more when you want it.
