Nestled in the heart of the Mpumalanga, approx. 16 km from Nelspruit (Mbombela) our cottage provides easy access to UNESCO World Heritage sites like The Barberton Makhonjwa Mountains, and the iconic Kruger National Park. The space Nestled in the picturesque Alkmaar valley of Mpumalanga, our Farm Cottage offers comfort and convenience, providing guests with an unforgettable retreat amidst natures natural beauty. Our Cottage is situated on a working snail farm and guests can expect friendly staff who get started at sunrise, and the distant hum of the tractor every now and then. Guest access We invite our guests to explore the property and splash in the stream. Our little river is called the “Klein Vis” a tributary of the “Vis Spruit”, which flows through the valley from high in the Kaapsehoop hills. We offer a snail farm tour if any guests are interested in the farming of escargot and would like to see the process from start to finish. Access to the snail paddocks is however restricted if guests are not accompanied. Other things to note Our gorgeous farm cottage is accessed via approx. 2km of dirt road, just off the N4 towards Nelspruit. While it is not necessary to drive an off-road vehicle, higher clearance is an advantage. Vehicles with low clearance should take it slow, and approach water contours head on. Just before the last gate there is a stream crossing which is easily doable for vehicles with low clearance in the dry season. During the rainy season (December-February) there are days where the river rises and is not passable for low clearance vehicles (>18cm), and staying in or hitching a ride with us, may be necessary.
