Millpool - A Victorian carriage perfect for all

Millpool is airy and light. A characterful carriage perfect for singles or couples. Stunning views in a great village location. Millpool is designed for accessibility, but you don't have to be in a wheelchair to enjoy Millpool, it is perfect for everyone. Although we don't offer breakfast, our usual welcome pack includes a starter pack of milk, tea, coffee, local apple juice and biscuits. Cornwall Tourism Awards 2022 silver winner for Accessibility and 2025 Gold for Sustainability. The space Millpool is cosy and warm all year round, with central heating provided by our biomass boiler, and an outside brazier for an open fire on warm evenings. There is a double bed, but we can change it for a single profiling bed on request. There is a fold-down single bed in the lounge, and curtains divide the living spaces. There is a spacious wet room. Millpool has its own small enclosed garden and terrace, with stunning views over the surrounding countryside. Railholiday have been offering holidays in railway carriages for 25 years now. In 2016 we won the country's top prize for sustainable tourism; Gold in the Visit England awards, in 2018 won the top prize of Winner of Winners at the Cornwall Tourism Awards and in 2020 the national iTravel Staycation Award. Most recently we won Gold for Regenerative Tourism at the Cornwall Tourism Awards. Although we are green to the core, there is no loss of comfort. Your energy comes from renewable sources, our gardens are tended to support year round pollinators, and you'll find some lovely details in the carriages that Dave has salvaged; mahogany shelves, cast iron brackets etc. We've also won awards for our wildlife friendly approach, and have had the accolade of best eco garden in South East Cornwall in bloom for several years. We have three other carriages in St Germans, each in their own independent space. There are another four awaiting restoration including a carriage we are working on at the moment that was built by GWR for Queen Victoria. It's a great place to stay for anyone with an interest in trains. We are happy to give tours of our unrestored carriages for anyone staying with us. Guest access We have ten acres of private woodland just a short walk away, a games room with DVDs, maps, more books, combi-games table (table football, snooker and air hockey) and a full sized outdoor table tennis table. Our woodland (which can only be accessed on foot - unfortunately the surfaces are too lumpy for wheelchair access) has a winter snowdrop walk, wild garlic and bluebells in spring, fairy grottos and fine autumn colours. We can offer a shower chair, RNID smoke alarm, toilet riser and easy grip cutlery on request. Please let us know if you have dietary requirements or would rather we didn't put in fresh flowers. Other things to note We welcome everyone. Our welcome pack includes a starter pack of tea, coffee, dairy and oat milk straws, gluten free biscuits and our own home-grown apple juice. Milpool is only a hundred metres from the train station at St Germans, so access to the railway is easy. There is an excellent village store for provisions, a good value, restaurant just down the road (open Thurs to Sundays), a cafe (open seven days a week) and a pub (live music on Sundays, most weekends and every other Wednesday. Food on some days that changes - contact to book). There is a pub in the neighbouring village of Polbathic, one mile away, that offers food on seven days a week. We have a car charging point.
