Welcome to Djamalan [jam-a-lung]|Off-Grid Luxury, the perfect rural getaway in the Snowy Monaro area for those who feel the pull of the snow or the tug of a lure. Our home features 28 private acres of beautiful bouldered hills, 450 meters of private Snowy River frontage great for trout fishing & platypus viewing & amazing views of the Sunrise & Sunset. It is just 55 minutes to Perisher & Thredbo Ski fields, hiking & mountain bike trails, all located in the magnificent Kosciuszko National Park. The space Djamalan is a peaceful rural home located on the banks of the renowned Snowy River, in a quiet corner of the Snowy Monaro. The properties name, Djamalan, is the word for "platypus" in the dialect spoken by the traditional custodians of the land, the Ngarigo people. In the quiet of the morning watch platypus play from the comfort of your bed, after a long day of adventures use the evening to settle down with a glass of wine or a local craft beer in front of the fire. It is a modern home with a country feel. It has soaring white walls that draw your eye up to the ceiling where you can watch the stars from the warmth through the 3 Skylights. You will find a beautiful, eclectic collection of artwork spread throughout the house, which has been chosen over a lifetime of loving art. This off-grid home is clad in modern Monument Colorbond, helping it to tie in beautifully with it’s surrounding landscape. Being fully off-grid, it is totally self-sufficient, perfect for those wishing to make as little impact on the environment as possible while on holiday. ☼BEDROOMS & BATH☼ Djamalan comfortably sleeps up to six guests, making it ideal for couples, friends, or families. The master bedroom includes one queen-size bed with cotton sheets. It has a beautiful view looking up and down the Snowy River, plus a full walk-in-robe and ensuite. The 2nd bedroom features a queen-size bed with cotton sheets. The 3rd bedroom houses two single beds, also made up with cotton sheets. Due to being Off-Grid, we have a strict policy on the number of guests we can have here at Djamalan and unfortunately cannot exceed the limit of 6 guests staying. All bedrooms are designed to feel minimalistic with plenty of closet space. The home has two bathrooms, the main bath features a large tub, a walk-in shower & twin vanities. Feel free to utilize the hairdryer & toiletry products during your stay. ☼KITCHEN & DINING☼ The fully equipped kitchen features a large gas SMEG stove/oven and a Fisher & Paykel refrigerator. The cabinets are fully stocked with cookware & a selection of basic pantry stores for use during your stay. Feel free to enjoy the sunrise paired with a cup of coffee from the mocha pot or Nespresso machine provided. Are you thinking of having a Barbie? Just steps outside the kitchen are a gas BBQ and 8 seater table set for grilling & chilling. Inside, the dining table seats 8 and 2 at the breakfast bar in the kitchen. Feel free to set up the large timber grazing board with a range of cheeses & cured meats ready to enjoy the night away with some local wine or craft beer. ☼INDOORS☼ You’ll enter the home into a large living room with a wood combustion stove to keep you toasty warm on those cold winter nights and early mornings. There is a smart TV setup ready for your use, or if you’d rather play cards or board games there’s a large selection for you to choose from. For those musical types there’s also a piano & guitar at your disposal. ☼OUTDOORS☼ Djamalan sits on 28 acres of land. We are slowly working on the regeneration of the land, so if you go out for a walk, please be careful of the young trees growing around the block. The immediate backyard has a wood fire BBQ for you to sit around and cook on. The whole property I fenced with post & wire fencing, so not pet friendly. There is a gas BBQ and an outdoor setting on the back deck for your use, as well as an outdoor setting located around the front of the property where you’ll be protected from the cold winter easterly. ☼MORE DETAILS☼ On your arrival, you will be greeted by 2 beautiful, friendly Kelpie Dogs, Boz & Annie. In the winter it gets very cold here, each room has its own oil heater, which has been purposefully set to timers that best utilise the solar generated. Wood will also be supplied for the internal combustion fireplace, which is stocked up before you go to bed will keep the house warm all night. Parking is available on-site for 4 vehicles. Djamalan House has WiFi throughout. My partner and I live in the studio 50 meters away attached to the shed on the same 28-acre property. Occasionally, you may see us wandering around gardening or mowing. If so, give us a wave, we’d love you to say hello! :-) Also, we observe your seclusion whilst staying with us. Thus, all garden maintenance around Djamalan’s own garden is done between guests. If you have any questions about the local area or the property itself, we are more than happy to answer them. Guest access Guests can access the home either from the front roundabout driveway, through the mud room (preferred if rainy or after a day on the slopes) or via the main entrance to the right of the house where you'll find stairs and a disabled access ramp. Feel free to park in the driveway itself or in and around the roundabout. Guests will have full access to the entire house. The Shed is not accessible by guests. Other things to note As mentioned previously, the house is entirely off grid. We have solar & a battery system fitted to supply electricity & a backup generator set up for those days when it's not quite enough. All our water is rain water and is limited to what is available in the tanks, we ask that guests keep showers to a maximum of 5 minutes. The sewage system is very sensitive, so we ask that guests only use the cleaning products provided. It is ok to use your own toiletries. Registration Details PID-STRA-47645
