Relax at Simple Comforts Cottage
Relax at Simple Comforts Cottage
Description
This nicely-appointed, edge-of-town little gem has lots to offer! Small town neighborhood in front; peaceful timber in the back. Perks of this darling are peace and quiet, leisurely shopping/dining, no crowds or traffic, and a safe, friendly-but-unobtrusive neighborhood. There’s lots here to make your stay comfortable: fully stocked kitchen, gas grill, firepit, electronic fireplace, ROKU TV, WIFI, on-site free private parking, dedicated work area, laundry, AC, and more – all the simple comforts! The space This home was built in 1890 and a family of 5 was raised here decades ago. The back portion of the home was originally an open porch that was enclosed later, so when you wonder why the north end of the kitchen slopes, that's the reason. When it was a porch, the floor was designed with a slope so the rain would run off of it. There is also an upstairs room with power, but no heat. We hope to make that a charming loft area in the future, but for now, it is locked storage. But here's what you'll find right now: Living Room - This is where the front entrance to the cottage is. There is fast, private, secure WIFI throughout the home and yard. Watch your favorite movies/shows on the DVD player or ROKU TV. Relax on the comfy full-sized couch and recliner. Lift-top coffee table is perfect for writing, playing games, doing puzzles, or snacking! There is an electric fireplace in the TV stand with "fire" and/or heat, too. There is an end table with lots of game choices at the end of the couch. The other end of the LR is a designated workspace with a desk, light, some basic office supplies, power, and USB charging ports. Jackets can go in the closet behind the recliner and even store your shoes in the cubby in there. Bedroom - There are beautiful "curtain fairy lights" behind the queen-sized bed, with remote in the nightstand drawer. An alarm clock is there for those of you who want to get a jump on the day. The queen sized bed is comfortable and there are extra pillows and blankets in the closet in the attached dressing room. Dressing Room - The closet mentioned above also has plenty of space for hanging clothes and storing luggage. There is a clothing drying rack and hamper. The vacuum is stored in there, but we don't expect you to use it. :) A small makeup table has a lighted magnifying makeup mirror in the drawer with USB cord to charge if needed. The dresser has lots of room for clothing, and the upper drawers contain your towels and washcloths for your stay....and a blow dryer. Bathroom - is pretty self-explanatory. Guests say the shower is really great! A generous medicine cabinet can hold all your toiletries. Kitchen - The kitchen features all you would expect (plus some!), and as far as appliances go, you'll find a stove, fridge, and microwave. Sadly, there is no room for a dishwasher. Brew coffee with the Keurig on the counter (pods provided) or use the standard coffee maker (filters provided, but bring your own coffee). A Nostalgia Frozen Beverage Station is perfect for slush drinks, snow cones, Margaritas, Daiquiris, and more! There's even a recipe book to refer to. Find everything you need in the kitchen and some special extras as well. The kitchen table can seat 2 to 6 people. (There are only 3 chairs, though, so extra chairs are not provided....yet. May be some folding chairs in the future!) Laundry - Washer and dryer are also located in the kitchen with some detergent, softener and/or dryer sheets provided. Iron in the cupboard above. Pantry - This is where you can store any food you bring. You'll also find a mop, broom, stepstool, and fly swatters in there. Front Porch, Deck, and Yard - Enjoy sunny days or starry nights on the glider bench in front or the back deck patio set. Relax by the backyard firepit or maybe have a weiner roast with s'mores! Firewood, kindling, lighter, two lawn chairs, and some weiner sticks are provided. Easier yet and just as tasty, prepare some delicious grilled food on the gas grill near the deck. Grill tools are in the "Great Outdoors" cupboard. Guest access Guests have full and sole access to main floor of the home. Other things to note - The house is really best suited for 2 adults. But there is a cot and sleeping bag available, so it is possible for 2 adults and 2 children or 3 adults and 1 child to for stays shorter than 1 week. There is an small extra fee for more than 2 people. Please note that the house is small - only 600 sq ft - and it is not child-proofed. - Regarding the ROKU TV: There is quite a bit for free that you can watch, but if you have paid subscriptions, please bring your own usernames and passwords to be able to login. Then you can log out yourself or the system will automatically log you out upon checkout.
