This beautifully crafted apartment will leaved you bathed in sunlight, as you fall asleep and awaken in this high-ceilinged sanctuary! Nestled in a tiny village, you'll be surrounded by gorgeous mountain views and just a stroll through the field to the beautiful West River. Swimming, kayaking, hiking and the art-full town town of Brattleboro, as well the full complement of winter activities including, skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling trail access all within a short distance. The space Set in a quiet rural town 5 miles along a winding river north of the artists' destination town of Brattleboro, Vermont, this private apartment space offers an incredible get-away for anyone looking to create their own private residency or retreat to read, write, create, move, expand. This space would be perfect for dance, yoga, painting, classical music, writing, or other craft that befits the space, or for any need for a get-away. The Grange Temple is located within the former community gathering space, a National Grange hall. Now privately owned, the entire building is home to the Host's creative musings. You will still have plenty of quiet and privacy while being here, and perhaps see art in creation! You will enjoy a beautiful open area area downstairs with living room, eating area, skillfully- crafted and well-appointed kitchen, full bath, gas-fired woodstove, cathedral ceiling, and airy loft bedroom upstairs with half bath. Two bedrooms on the first floor have gorgeous huge windows and high ceilings. Wifi provided, television with wifi access for your viewing pleasure. The front porch is a wonderful gathering place for fellow artists and friends. There is a woodshop and small clay studio in the downstairs level used by the owners of the building. Our intention is to provide an inspiring and beautiful space with private loft dwelling for focused study of one's craft, and to support your growth and creativity. Thirty night stay minimum. There is another residence in the building, so noise levels must be respected after 7pm and in excess during the day. The area is rural, but only 5 miles from Brattleboro which has an Amtrack station and rental cars. Closest airport is Bradley International in Hartford, CT. About the surrounding area: Located in a quaint village next to one of town churches also restored by the owner, there is a large baseball field next door that is available for all to use. Walks down country lanes to our local gorgeous granite rock falls, the nearby West River with covered bridges, or a walk across the baseball field down to the gas station market for that forgotten dozen eggs makes for lovely morning walks. Surrounding towns include historic Newfane (3 miles north), Dover and West Dover which are lovely towns to peruse at the base of the ski mountains, Putney, filled with craftsmen, apple orchards and a quaint downtown, and of course Brattleboro, Vermont, listed in Smithsonian Magazine as one of the top eleven best places to live and visit in the country. Brattleboro is full of opportunities for leisure and entertainment. Stroll the downtown, sample our local brewery by the water, the famous Fireworks wood fired pizza restaurant, large new Food Coop, Grafton Cheese company store tasting room, Vermont Country Deli, Sam's Outdoor Outfitters. Shop some of our unique carpet, jewelry, art galleries, wine stores, boutiques and bead stores, local bakery and acclaimed unique thrift stores. Catch a show at the Vermont Jazz Center, New England Youth Theatre, New England Center for Circus Arts, or a movie at the historic Latchis Theatre. A full list of shows, events and calendar listings will be ready for your arrival, and can be requested beforehand for planning. Come during one of our town events: The Brattleboro Literary Festival, Marlboro Music Festival, Women's Film Festival, Yellow Barn Music Festival, Putney Craft Tour, Sandglass Puppet Festival, Rock River Open Studio Tour, Cotton Mill Open Studio and Holiday Sale, Cherry Hill Artists Tour, the Annual Ski Jump competition.
