Here you can explore beautiful woodland, and stunning panoramic views from Winterfold, Holmbury or Pitch Hill. Cranleigh village has many shops, cafes, pubs, and restaurants. There is a variety of pubs and restaurants dotted around the Surrey Hills. We are a working farm so you will walk past our farmyard and barns on your way to the hut. We will give you details of where to park, 30 metres from the hut. You may see haymaking in the summer months and sheep grazing in winter. We have a livery behind the shepherd’s hut, with several grazing horses. Our 2 friendly black cats are likely to come and say hello too! The hut is situated under the shelter of the wooded canopy but benefits from all the light and sunshine from the meadows. There are wild deer, birds of prey, including barn owls, buzzards, kestrels, and sparrow hawks. We are also sanctuary to several pheasants, all of which you are likely to see during your stay. The shepherd’s hut is located at the end of a slate path, lit by solar lights, should you arrive at night. Our farmhouse is across the field, 70 or so metres away, but it is completely obscured. Neither hut nor house overlook each other, so you will be completely private. You can contact us should you need any assistance or local recommendations. Outside the hut consists of a grey-slate patio, with table and chairs and a fire pit. A few metres away in a lovely ring of trees, we hang hammocks in the warmer months and there is a fire pit under the canopy, so you can enjoy the fire whilst swinging in hammocks. Access to the hut is by 3 wooden steps; there is no rail in place, so please consider this if you have limited mobility. The shepherd’s hut has plenty of hot and cold running water, and electricity powered by solar and mains electricity. Inside, is a wood burning stove which heats up quickly. There will be plenty of wood, fire lighters, and kindling for the log burner for your stay. The hut is well insulated with sheep’s wool and holds its heat in the winter, so you will be toasty warm.
