Colourful Edwardian family home

A beautiful Edwardian terraced home in a quiet street with a lovely garden and stunning views over the Frome Valley and into Bristol. Our cozy, colourful and well loved home is set in a quiet, leafy road in North East Bristol. We are 20 minutes by bus from the city centre and close to extensive parkland with foot and cycle paths. The space The house was built in 1906 and benefits from the Edwardian emphasis on light spaces and big windows. There are three floors - on the ground floor is a good sized living room with a woodburner, 2 sofas, and a 48in HDTV with Netflix, Amazon Prime and other streaming services. The kitchen/diner has a double oven stove (gas and electric), oak work surfaces, and is very well equipped. There is a table that can seat six, and a sitting area with coffee table in front of double doors to the patio and garden. Leading off the kitchen is a utility room with another sink, a fridge-freezer, washing machine and microwave, a toilet and a door to the patio. There is a retractable double washing line in the garden and indoor drying racks if it rains (this is the South-West after all). The first floor has two bedrooms, one with a king sized bed and one with a standard double. There will be clothes storage space available including a wardrobe on the landing. There is also a small locked back room in which we will keep some of our stuff and is not part of the let. The bathroom on this floor has a toilet, sink, bath and shower. The top floor is an attic conversion and has large Velux windows with far reaching views into Bristol and across the valley to Purdown. It has a king sized bed and an on-suite bathroom with a walk-in shower. There is built-in wardrobe space available. There is a seating area from which you can enjoy a glass of wine and watch the sunset over Purdown - we recommend it! We have a large garden with a paved patio area and seating for about 8 around an oval table. Our co-hosts will look after the greenhouse and lawn, however there are several plants in pots on the patio and we would ask you to water them every few days if the weather is dry. If that is a problem please let us know so we can ask one of our co-host to come and do it. There is a charcoal barbecue and a cast iron chiminea for burning wood, which is available at the bottom of the garden. There are a few garden toys, we keep them in a box at the bottom of the garden along with cushions for the outdoor chairs. Every room of the house is a different colour and there are many original art works, oriental carpets and rugs. We are a retired couple with family living nearby and three very lively young granddaughters who have left their mark on some of the decor, so please don’t expect lifestyle magazine perfection, this is a lived in and loved home with normal wear and tear. The girls come to us every week in various combinations so we have quite a few toys and colouring and drawing material available which children are welcome to use, along with a high chair and potty. We also have top and bottom stair gates that can be used if needed. There is wi-fi throughout the house and bluetooth speakers in the downstairs rooms and landing. Parking on the road outside the house is free and usually available. Guest access The whole house and garden are available to guests apart from a small, locked back bedroom where we store personal belongings. We will make sure that there is enough storage space for guests in each room. Other things to note We are aiming to attract families and adult friends as guests - this isn’t a party house as we live in a quiet street with many young families and older people. We don’t allow pets I am afraid and never wear outdoor shoes in the house to keep things clean, so please bring slippers or thick socks - all our floors are wooden, but with lots of rugs and carpets. There is definitely no smoking in the house please, although we usually keep a couple of ash trays in the garden for guests who haven’t yet managed to quit!
