This magnificent Artists' House at the start of the Chemin de St Jacques welcomes you to Puy en Velay, a UNESCO-listed city. Located in the heart of the old town and at the start of the Chemin de St Jacques, this place is totally exceptional! The space In the heart of the city of Puy en Velay, an old Marian city with UNESCO-classified heritage, a great starting point for St Jacques de Compostela, at the gates of wild nature and the sources of the Loire, the private mansion of Jerphanion Cambacéres welcomes you. This beautiful 18th century house was restored by the sculptor Philippe Kaeppelin, then by his son Dominique and his wife Brehed, also artists. Brehed, as well as his daughter Jeanne and son-in-law Pierre, live here and welcome you in a suite with delicate charm, populated by imaginary birds and overlooking the garden. Dreams and calm await you in this exceptional place. The "bird suite" consists of a large bedroom with direct access to the garden, a small painted boudoir (former artist's work office), as well as a large living room with walls covered in Indian fabric that can accommodate two more people. The large bathroom adjoining the two rooms has a large bathtub. The rest of the house is private but the entrance is through the magnificent listed stairwell and the large central living room. It's possible to park your car in the garden. During your stay We welcome our guests with great pleasure and the moments of exchange are very precious to us. We want to offer a house that is open to the world and full of life. Other things to note You won't miss strolling through the streets of the old town in the heart of which the house is located. A few steps away, the cathedral, the baptistery and the cloister, the Hôtel Dieu, the Camino Museum and the Rock of St Michel d'Aiguihe. Many activities, guided and theatrical tours are offered in the summer. Downtown shops are nearby. On Saturdays, the market on Place du Plot is very lively. There are many local products: wild mushrooms, vegetables from small market gardens, artisanal cheeses, country charcuterie... Many festivals liven up the summer: Monastier Brass Festival, Chaise Dieu Festival, Interfolk, Les Musicales, etc. In September, the Renaissance Festivals of the King of the Bird invite you on a real journey through time: for a week, costumes and staging allow you to discover the city as it was at the beginning of the Renaissance. Finally, the city is the starting point for many hiking trails: the iconic Chemin de Saint Jacques de Compostelle but also the Chemin de Stevenson, Tour du Velay…
