This 2 bedroom open concept 1940s cottage has been updated with all the creature comforts while staying true to its quirky roots. With private access to Lake Scugog, known for fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding and swimming, bask in the sun all day & sit by a fire under the stars. Lakefront Cabin This cabin is situated right on the water, with a fire pit, hot-tub and dock all on the lake side, so you can enjoy the sunset views with any ambiance you prefer. As you are visiting a lakefront cabin: please note spiders, flies, and insects are part of the experience - whether inside or outside. We thoroughly clean before your arrival, but with summer weather bugs should be expected. Living/Dining Area This open concept area is perfect for relaxing, playing board games, watching a movie on a rainy day, sharing a meal or curling up with a good book. The cottage is equipped with a SmartTV with access to Prime and Disney+ or login to your account with any service. We also have boardgames and cards located in the hutch. Kitchen Located in the open concept living space, prepare your meals while still engaging with your friends and family! Our kitchen comes fully equipped with a full size stove, a 12cu ft fridge, microwave, toaster oven and a dishwasher. All the necessary kitchen tools like pots, pans, serving dishes, cutlery, glasses of all sizes and wine glasses are available for your use. For coffee and tea drinkers, the kitchen comes equipped with a Keurig and a kettle. Additionally, a complimentary Keurig coffee pod per person will start your vacation off right. Sugar is provided. Primary Suite and Bunks Our primary suite is located near the back of the cottage and offers a comfortable queen size bed. The second guest room offers a bunk bed with a double bed on the bottom and twin up top. Please note, the rooms are small and there is minimal storage. Outdoors This outdoor area comes with a deck. In the summer, you'll enjoy this extra living space with a BBQ, dining space and additional patio furniture. There is also a hottub ready for use all year round. In the front of the property (lakeside), you will have Muskoka chairs all year round by a large fire pit, lake access, dock (summer), ice rink (winter) and a large yard to play your favourite outdoor games. Cornhole and Bocce will be available during your stay. Please bring your own firewood. There are places close by to purchase. S'more sticks will be ready and waiting! Please note that each year in April, a burn ban is imposed as part of Scugog Townships open air burning By-Law. To check out the exact dates please visit their website. From Victoria Day to Thanksgiving, two kayaks and a pedal boat are available for use. Guest access The entire cottage is for you to enjoy during your stay. Nothing is shared with other guests, tenants or neighbours. You'll have access to 50’ of waterfront on a 150’ deep lot. Other things to note Our cottage is dog friendly. We just ask that you please clean up after your pets and dry them off before entering the cottage. Unfortunately, due to cat allergies, we do not allow cats at our AirBnB. Wifi is available and you will be provided the password upon check in. This area is well known for trails. Enjoy hiking, ATVing or snowmobiling. A boat launch is located 5 mins away in Caesarea. This property uses a well with a water system and a holding tank for waste management. There is a water cooler available for guests to have drinking water. Only toilet paper and human waste can be flushed down the toilet. A trash bin is available for personal hygiene products, wipes, etc. Water levels and conditions vary throughout the year, the water is shallow with a sandy/muddy bottom and weeds further out from the dock. Please note that burn bans and blue-green algae has been present during summer months due to rising temperatures. We cannot guarantee the lake water conditions or burn bans in effect at the time of your trip. As such, refunds will not be considered past applicable policy dates. In addition, no refunds will be considered due to insects. Our cottage is lakefront and bugs should be and will be expected, including inside the cottage. The cottage is old, yes, and was insulated in 2023, however it is not impenetrable to bugs. A Scugog Sugar Shack guidebook will be available to you upon arrival, detailing everything you'll need to know about the cottage, it also houses information relating to the surrounding area and our recommendations.
