This stylish Caribbean eco-bungalow in El Yunque Rainforest is a dream destination for nature lovers who seek peace and quiet. Perfect for a couple getaway and cozy for a party of 3. Hiking trail only 5 min away & 30 min to Luquillo Beach (best beach around) & bio-bay kayaking and snorkeling. Stay with us and enjoy an ecological and sustainable living experience in the magic of the rainforest! The space We built the bungalow as a refuge in case of a strong hurricane and as a guest house for family and friends who would come and visit. Year after year they suggested that we rent the bungalow to tourists who would love to live the rainforest ambient, our experience as architects in sharing with them Old San Juan or rainforest tips. Well we gave-it a try. The 408 SF apartment is decorated in eclectic retro-modern Caribbean style with souvenirs we have picked-up in our trips in the Caribbean and it is private, relaxing and magical I would say. The 408 SF roof terrace, is a solarium during the day and a star gazing platform during the night and a wonderful BBQ nook for you to enjoy in your total privacy. The compound is fully solar referred to as Net-Zero Plus, meaning that we produce more electrical energy than we consume. Also, we have been harvesting the rain water, recycling and organic farming for more than 15 years. While being here, you will breathe the healthiest rainforest air rich in oxygen, ozone and free of most urban pollutants as well as being exposed to healing sun rays from 10-11 AM or 3-4 PM. IMPORTANT NOTE: This listing is for the Roof Terrace apartment (Room # 2, upstairs). This apartment is NOT suitable for guests with mobility limitations. Sorry, NO CHILDREN under sixteen (16). If the Roof Terrace apartment is not available please check on the Kokianoha Rainforest Eco-Bungalow / Garden Deck apartment listing. The Garden Deck apartment is handicapped accessible. Guest access Guests will find keys to the main entrance gate and apartment in the assigned lockbox outside of main gate and are welcome to park their car in the designated space, use our pool, sunbathe in our terrace and enjoy a small garden next to the parking spot. We acknowledge our guests privacy and we respect that. In occasions we may gather together, if they desire, to chat, exchange tour ideas and help them program their visits. I offer an optional day tour to Old San Juan at an extra cost so guests can see the historic city and its monuments thru the eyes of an architect living and teaching architecture in Puerto Rico for more than 25 years. Also you may visit us at KOKIANOHA in (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) for more pictures of our property and of adventures and things we reccommend you consider while staying in our place During your stay Since we live "next door" to the bungalow, I am available to help and assist in planning tours, time tables, places to see, etc. As well as guide them in my own personalized tours to the historic city and the rainforest. Other things to note In general, we recommend that a great vacation to Puerto Rico in a short period of time should consider the following destinations: 1) At least 2 nights in Old San Juan or in Condado, or Ocean Park or Isla Verde, but definitely DO NOT miss to visit Old San Juan 2) At least 2 days in the Rainforest and definitely DO NOT miss visiting the Rainforest 3) And if you have extra time, at least 2 days be that in Culebra, Vieques, Guánica, Caborojo, Rincón, Isabela or Aguadilla.
