17th Century Maker’s Cottage is a lovely 3 bedroom terraced cottage conveniently situated in the centre of the historic market town of Thetford, surrounded by the largest lowland forest in England. Situated in the heart of the Brecks, a unique landscape straddling the Norfolk/Suffolk border with distinctive heathland plants and birds. All town amenities are within a short walking distance. Thetford is one of the UK’s best kept secrets. Two rivers, three museums, three statues and more! The space Traditional English pub the Black Horse is located at one end of the street serving local ales and home cooked food, award-winning Mulberry restaurant and a great fish and chip shop just around the corner to name but a few. We also have an excellent Portuguese supermarket offering freshly baked bread and a great selection of cheese and cold cuts on our doorstep – not forgetting the renowned Portuguese custard tarts! Recently refurbished Maker’s Cottage is comfortably furnished and tastefully decorated to a high standard and offers the perfect base for your visit to Norfolk and Suffolk. We call our lovely cottage Maker’s because we are passionate about local makers and artists and run a shop in the town centre (Leaping Hare Everything Thetford) where we promote and sell a range of artisan products including soaps, felted items, pottery, wood, honey, jewellery, art and more. You will find examples throughout the cottage and details of how you can purchase and support local. Front entrance porch, plenty of hooks for coats and a handy bench, into the lounge with it’s beautiful beams and comfy sofas. Large Smart TV with Freesat allows you to log in to your own Netflix and Prime accounts. DVD player too. Workspace if needed. Through to a second sitting room with large dresser stocked with a selection of games, puzzles and books. Door to downstairs shower room. This leads on to a well-equipped kitchen and utility area overlooking the south-facing garden, including electric oven gas hob, microwave, air fryer, toaster, dishwasher and washing machine. Ercol dining table seats up to 6. On the second floor there are two good sized double bedrooms both with double beds and a family bathroom, including a separate shower. On the top floor, there are two comfortable single beds. Guest access Guests have full and sole access to the entire cottage for their stay. There is on-street parking at the front of the property and a free public car park to the rear - both subject to availability. Thetford town centre has a large amount of free car parks, we will provide you with full details before your arrival. On arrival you will enter from the rear of the property, which takes you through the garden into the kitchen. Other things to note Due to the age of the cottage, there are some low beams upstairs (very low in bedroom 3), uneven (and occasionally squeaky) floorboards.
