Beautiful Westport Upper Rideau Lake Cottage

Superb spot for a family getaway on Upper Rideau Lake with panoramic views of the sunset and the Village of Westport. Fully renovated! This beautiful two-bedroom cottage is one of four cottages in a family grouping which shares over 200' of shore. We include the use of kayaks, a canoe, and pedal boat for our guests to explore the lake. Just 5 minutes to the beautiful town of Westport and on the historic Rideau Canal. The space We have always loved the cottage lifestyle and cottage country, particularly the village of Westport. As our kids grew-up we realized we wanted to be able to continue to share cottaging with them as they had families of their own. This dream led us to find the Happy Place Cottages and start a multi-year renovation of 4 individual cottages which share two neighbouring lakefront properties. Our cottage on Upper Rideau Lake is a great place to disconnect and relax. There is a beautiful spot for a fire right at the lakeside, and areas to relax both inside and out. This property has been completely renovated from top to bottom in 2020/21 with a mix of modern finishes and heritage touches. We love this cottage which features: A lakeside deck with a gorgeous sunset views. Full kitchen 3 piece bathroom A small eating area and a sectional couch in the sitting area with TV The Explorer is a 2 bedroom cottage One with a queen bed and lake views - fall asleep listening to the loons calling! The second bedroom has a custom bunk with 4 built in single beds As beautiful as the inside of the cottage is, it is outdoors that you will want to spend all your time! Our large lot with a gentle slope to the lake gives room to play or relax. Swim, kayak or boat from the dock. Enjoy a campfire right down at the lake. We are located near the public boat launch at Forresters Landing Drive which is handy for those who plan to bring a boat. We provide a flotilla of 10 kayaks, a canoe and a paddleboat to give all our guests a chance to explore the lake. The waterfront is clean and swimmable. Diving is not permitted off the docks as it is approximately 4 feet deep off the end, but the water is clear and the bottom is a sand/rock mix. The entry is fairly flat, but the shoreline has stones to protect against erosion so you need to step down a little into the water, or enter off the dock steps. Upper Rideau lake provides great fishing throughout the lake, or take a trip through one of the locks at either end of the lake to check out the Rideau System! Keep an eye out for the bald eagle that lives on the island just across from the cottages or watch the loons and other wildlife. Please note: You are required to bring blankets, pillows, sheets, towels, and dish cloths for your stay. Our cottage is on a quiet lane, and not suitable for groups intending to party or host loud gatherings. Our neighbours are kind and courteous, and we request that our guests are the same. Guest access This cottage, named the Explorer, is one of four in our family grouping of cottages. Our original plan was to always rent the cottages as a group so families can use them together as we dream of for our family. During the summer guests book the entire property but in the spring and fall we are focusing on being able to host individual families for a quiet stay at the lake. You may notice our other listings; note only a maximum of two cottages in the group would be rented at any one time during the spring/fall season. Since the property has over 200 feet of waterfront guests should have ample space to themselves. Each cottage has it's own picnic table and firepit with chairs to enjoy the great outdoors. Additionally, we have two docks on the property and ten kayaks on the property to give both groups access to the lake.
