Casa Coupole: Duplex B
Casa Coupole is not the least expensive offering on the market but it is the most original and among the safest. This building is certified Anti-Seismic. Perfect for any length of stay, the fully-furnished Duplex is 1,614 sq feet, on 2 floors (1st and 2nd) it has 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a combination living & dinning room and a fully equipped kitchen. Please note: the pool is currently empty because of the ever increasing costs of water and chemicals. The space This internationally certified anti-seismic Apartment Building was unaffected by the devastating 2010 earthquake. A thorough structural evaluation of the building was conducted by the engineering firm Imbert Dominguez and given the highest possible rating. The construction system is as ingenious as it is elegant. Two circular towers with vaulted ceilings are connected by a central stairwell and ample landings. The Duplex is on two floors (first and second). The bedrooms are on the first floor and are very well protected. The bedrooms have access to an enclosed patio- a private sanctuary. An interior spiral staircase links the bedrooms to the 2nd floor where there is a combination living-dinning room and a fully equipped kitchen and the entrance to the apartment. There are large articulated bay windows that control noise and ventilation. Our offering is convenient, the location is pleasant with a park, shops, restaurants and groceries within walking distance. It was built by one of Haïti's leading architects. Casa Coupole will make your stay in Pétionville all the more memorable. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS 1- Where are you located? The building is in the Place Boyer neighborhood of Pétionville. We are on the one-way section of rue Vilatte between rue Goulard and rue Baudière. Extra Supermarket is just down the street and the Brazilian cultural center and Portofino restaurant are right around the corner. 2- Is there air-conditioning? At the request of a long term tenant, we installed AC in a bedroom of the Penthouse. The building makes use of natural air currents and is quite fresh throughout the year. There are fans in the living rooms and bedrooms. 3- Who do I contact if I have a problem within the apartment? Our handyman Clément is on site from 9:00 am to 4:00pm Monday through Saturday. If you require a French or English speaker, or your request requires additional help, Monique or Pierre-Richard will be happy to help. 4- How do I get my keys? You will be greeted by either Monique, Pierre-Richard or Clément at the agreed upon time. 5- What time is Check-in and Check-out? We appreciate arrivals between 12:00 and 4:00PM. Arrangements must be made ahead of time if this window does not work for you. Check out is at noon. 6- Who’s the Internet provider? The internet provider is “Access Haiti.” 7- Where is the Wifi code? The Wi-fi code is on the box. 8- What about mosquitoes? The building and gardens are regularly sprayed and there is a mosquito net over each bed. If you are prone to bites, we highly recommend pre-treating your clothing with Permethrin. It is active through several washes and easily purchased at camping and outdoor stores abroad. 9- Is hot water available? Yes, hot water is available. If the electricity goes out for several hours or days- the hot water may be compromised and that is out of our control. 10- How far are you from a supermarket and restaurants? “EXTRA Supermarket” and three good restaurants are within walking distance: “Portofino”, “Quartier Latin” and “Kokoyé.” 11- Can I have guests over? Yes but because of security concerns in Haïti, you are required to let the staff know IN ADVANCE if you are expecting someone. In complete agreement with Airbnb rules, parties are not allowed. 12- How do we get fresh water for drinking? You can purchase fresh water from the grocery store down the street. 13- Do we need to pay extra for the washing machine? Our housekeeping staff do the weekly washing of the sheets and towels. For your personal laundry, there is a washing machine and a dryer on site that are available for guests, they take 6 US quarters to function. We can exchange quarters for you. 14- What about housekeeping? Casa Coupole is NOT a hotel but our cleaning staff will do once a week cleaning for our Airbnb guests. Including: changing bed linens, dusting, sweeping, moping, straightening of pillows. They do not do your dishes, laundry, ironing or cooking without a prior arrangement between you and them. 15- Are linens provided? When you arrive the beds will be made. We will changes the sheets and towels once a week. 16- Do you supply toilet paper? There will be ample rolls of toilet paper upon your arrival. We are not a hotel. You will need to replenish your supply when the rolls we provided run out. 17- How do I return the keys? Please leave them on the dinning room table and PLEASE turn off any lights and fans. Emma, Monique & Pierre-Richard Guest access - Your apartment (one of 7 in the building) is not shared, the space is yours to enjoy for the length of your stay. - Enclosed parking (one car per apartment) - A fully equipped kitchen - Sheets and towels are provided and changed every week. - Vetted housekeepers are available and will cook and do laundry for you by special request and agreed upon compensation. - Because of the fragility of the power grid power outages are common. To alleviate this problem, inverters and Delcos generators and powerful batteries are provided and maintained by the staff. - Water supply, a serious issue in Haïti, is assured in this building. Casa Coupole is not a hotel, there are no guest services as you would expect in a hotel. The maids on staff are not available on the weekends. Towels and sheets will not be changed daily. Toilet paper is not replenished after a generous initial supply. The Supermarket is across the street for all your essentials.
