The newly-opened Walnut Family Bakery by a James Beard award-winning Pastry Chef is on the 1st floor, on a property with a long baking legacy, tucked into the Blue Ridge Mountains. Only 3 minutes from Section 9 of the French Broad River, it's an excellent location for rafters, kayakers, and hikers. 10 minutes from downtown Marshall, 20 minutes from downtown Hot Springs, and 35 minutes from downtown Asheville. The space The comfortable open floor plan apartment is outfitted with a kitchenette, dining table, queen sized bed, full-sized futon, and full bathroom. Art and ceramics from local Marshall and Asheville artists create a cozy atmosphere. An outdoor patio nook is just for guests and the large yard is also open to all, including a fire pit with wood already stocked. Next to the apartment/bakery is a separate private home where the baker and owner of the property lives. Walnut Family Bakery is open to the public on Saturdays from 9am-2pm, serving wood-fired breads, pastries, and coffee. Guests will also find a welcome treat baked fresh for them upon arrival. Guests enjoy a beautiful rural getaway while also being in close proximity to downtown Marshall, Asheville, Hot Springs, and so much of the outdoor activities, food, breweries, and art that this area has to offer in the gorgeous Blue Ridge Mountains. Other things to note The apartment does not have a TV. There are hand-picked books and games provided for guests to enjoy.
