Rose Cottage, Fangdale Beck

Rose Cottage is a cozy, pretty, detached property occupying an idyllic location in the small hamlet of Fangdale Beck in the North York Moors. We have recently renovated the cottage and have tried to make it feel both relaxing but also as luxurious as possible. From the cottage you have stunning views over Bilsdale (as well as our Alpacas next door!) with direct access to footpaths taking you up onto the Moors and across the Dales The space We have lived in Fangdale Beck since 2007 and have been breeding Alpacas on our farm next to the Cottage since 2011. In 2020 the opportunity arose to purchase Rose Cottage and we spent a couple of years completely gutting and renovating the property as well as installing central heating and a private water supply. We hope that you enjoy the tranquil location. We have a dog ourselves and are more than happy to host one well behaved small to medium sized dog as a guest. We would however ask that dogs are kept off the furniture. Rose Cottage can be reached through a private , gated front garden which is securely fenced and has a private parking space. The front door opens into the beamed living room with solid oak floors and a wood burning stove as a central feature. You can curl upon the comfy sofa in front of the fire and watch TV/NETFLIX on our 43 inch LG HD Smart TV, play a DVD from our collection or relax withy a book in our retro leather chair. At the back of the room there is a work space with an extending desk if you want to work or simply look out at the views through the window. There is WIFI throughout the property as well as USB charging points. With the exception of the two bathrooms, Rose Cottage is open plan and the original pine stairs lead from the living room to the bedroom where there is a double bed complete with a luxury Alpaca Duvet and Pillows. The rug on the original stripped pine floor has also been hand spun and woven in the Outer Hebrides from our Alpaca Fleece. There is a chest of drawers, vanity mirror and hairdryer as well as hanging space for clothes. A second HD Smart TV in the bedroom means that you can also watch TV from bed. The ensuite bathroom has a large freestanding bath, Egyptian cotton towels and a range of toiletries from Cole and Lewis. Downstairs there is a second toilet and shower room which is also stocked with Cole and Lewis toiletries. The Utility Space/Boot Room at the back of the house has a Bosch washing machine and there is a rotary washing line outside as well as a clothes airer in the house. The back door, which leads out into the garden, can also be reached through the utility room. As part of the cottage renovation, we knocked into two adjacent sheds to make a kitchen diner. The sheds had been historically used as storage by the village blacksmith and horseshoes around the house were salvaged from here. The well equipped stainless steel Kitchen has an oven, induction hob, microwave, a fridge with a small freezer compartment as well as a dishwasher, kettle and toaster. The cottage is stocked with cooking utensils as well as a supply of kitchen basics (oil, condiments, salt/pepper, tea, coffee, sugar). In addition we will leave a welcome pack in the Kitchen for you. The dining area at the end of the space looks out through the patio doors onto the garden and surrounding countryside. Our Alpacas are often found grazing in the field directly opposite. The patio doors open onto a terrace at the back where there is a bistro set (Table and Chairs) and an Indian Fire Bowl with a grill for those warm summer days. Rose Cottage is ideally located to explore the North York Moors National Park as well as local attractions such as Rievaulx Abbey and the historic town of Helmsley, both around 10 mins drive away. The stunning North Yorkshire Coast is within easy reach with its picture perfect coastal villages that include Staithes, Runswick Bay, and Robin Hood's Bay as well as the town of Whitby. The city of York can be reached in c.1hr with its famous Minster, City Wall, and Medieval streets.
