Description

Relax with the whole family at this beautiful and peaceful place to stay in Svarfadardalur valley in North Iceland. Laugabrekka is a big, modern and elegant house, a great option if you want to explore the wonders of North Iceland. It's only 5 km from Dalvík where you will find a supermarket, other services and amenities, a swimming pool, cafés, and restaurants. You will enjoy unsurpassed views of the valley, breath-taking mountains and nature. A private hot tub is in the garden at a view spot The space "Home away from home" our guests say. Laugabrekka is a beautiful and spacious holiday house, at a beautiful and scenic spot in Svarfadardalur valley, by Eyjafjord Northern Iceland. We have 3 bedrooms, a special TV room, two bathrooms, a spacious area where the kitchen, dining room and living room all come together, connecting to the patio facing south, where there is a cute outdoor BBQ area. The arched window, drawing their angles from the majestic mountain Stóllinn (The Chair) provide you with a wonderful view all over the beautiful valley, even to the sea where you can witness the midnight sun during summertime and the northern lights during winter time. There is unlimited WiFi, so you can easily do remote working. There is only a five minute drive to Dalvik where you can find most services and shops, a great swimming pool, restaurants, tourist attractions (whale watching e.g.), grocery shop, a pharmacy and a wine shop. We have a private hot tub, which is super easy to use. It is situated at a view point on the lawn, so you can enjoy your sightseeing while relaxing in the hot water. Perfect to relax in after a long day! We are situated by Svarfaðardalur's Nature Reserve. Within minutes you are on hiking trails where nature shows everything it has got, birdwatching and stunning landscapes. In Dalvik and actually in all of the neighbouring municipalities you will find great public skiing slopes where you can rent equipment. Sometimes there is even possible to go skating. Svarfaðardalur mountain area and neighbouring mountains (neighbour municipalities) are very popular among mountain skiers, and there are a couple of services that offer guided trips to the high mountains should you choose so. The views are out of this world and skiing conditions for mountain skiers can last until May/June. Laugabrekka was built in 1993. The house is 117 m2 on two floors and has a private balcony from the master bedroom, offering you wonderous views during day or night. The house is now owned by Kristin (from Dalvik) and Runar, but Kristin's uncle Björn and his family were the initial residents there, so the house has been in the family from the start. The name Laugabrekka draws it name from a warm water spring in the mountain above the house and the slope where it is positioned. There is a man made warm spring (32°) in the mountain above (named after Gísli, Eirikur and Helgi, legendary characters from the valley), and it actually only takes like a 15 min walk up the mountain to splash your feet in it while soaking in nature. Please mind that original text is in English and may be automatically translated :) Guest access This is a second home to Kristin and Runar, and we do have some personal belongings there, but we whole heartedly welcome you to access all spaces at Laugabrekka and the garden around. Other things to note Dalvik is well situated in the northern part of Iceland which makes it the perfect base for day tours around the Northern part of the country. Akureyri e.g. is only a 25 minute drive away. There are so many suggestions of things to do and see during summer or winter time, great hikes during the summer, guided or not and charming skiing facilities in Dalvik as well.
