The Chestnut Cottage is in the scenic mountain valley of Glen Ayre on Roan Mountain, elevation of 6,285', and home to 600 acres of naturally occurring rhododendron gardens. Enjoy hiking the trails & taking in the beautiful scenery of the surrounding Pisgah National Forest with easy access at Carvers Gap for day or section hiking on the Appalachian Trail. In the valley on the Tennessee side is the popular Roan Mountain State Park. The space The cottage has two bedrooms and one bathroom. It has an indoor gas fireplace and a lovely front porch for sitting and viewing the beautiful mountain valley. It is in a remote location and is 7 miles driving distance (less than 1 mile as the crow flies) from the top of Roan Mountain. Guest access Full cottage.
