Old watermill with private lake

Moulin de Valette is a lovely family home in a beautiful setting on your own lake. It is a house where infinite love has been put into it and where many pleasant moments have been experienced by young and old. It is also a house where the possibilities for odd jobs are endless, where new spider webs hang in no time, and we sometimes suffer from a marten in the roof. If you are the type who can appreciate such a (never finished) rural house, then Moulin de Valette is the place for you. The space How nice of you to be interested in renting Moulin de Valette. It is good to realize that it is really a very old mill and if your group is looking for an extremely clean (no spider webs etc.) and finished house, our mill may not be a good choice. Good to know; we sometimes have a marten in the roof of the apartment. You won't run into it, but you might hear it at night. Also a reminder that you have to bring your own bed linen and towels etc. For an additional charge of 25 euros per person (for stays longer than 4 days), we can provide linen for you. Moulin de Valette is a characteristic old watermill, built around 1850, which drew its energy from the water of the reservoir on the northwest side of the dike, in front of the mill. Archaeological finds have recently been made that indicate that a mill that belonged to a slightly higher castle already stood on this site in the Middle Ages. Now it is an impressive large vacation home consisting of the watermill, miller's house and a small cottage on the dike. There are also several barns. It is completely free, in a rural area and has its own land of about 12 hectares, of which 5 hectares are private lake. Swimming and fishing are allowed in this lake. On the valley side of the house, the mill overlooks the valley of the stream, which feeds the lake and flows in branches along the mill. This stream valley is also owned by the mill over a length of 1 km. Moulin de Valette is ideally suited for vacations with larger groups. For example, a family with children, multiple families, or multiple generations. Painting courses are also given (contact us for more information), and the house is also great for team building weeks/weekends. Renting is possible throughout the year. Preferably a whole week, but outside the high season it is also possible to rent for a long weekend, for example. During the summer, it is wonderful to BBQ outside in the evening and enjoy the evening until late on the raft on the lake, or by a fire pit. In the colder months, it is possible to enjoy the fireplace with a good book and a good glass of Burgundian wine. The buildings consist of: - The watermill itself with the turbine at the bottom, 4 floors with drive section, millstone and conveyor belts that were used to transport the flour and grain. The grain was collected from the floor at the height of the dike with a covered bridge to it. In this section, for example, you can set a table in the evening to eat here (with beautiful views over the lake on one side and the valley with the streams on the other), but this is otherwise in its original state and is not inhabited. - The miller's house with the basement at the bottom, above it the living area with terrace and the upper floor converted by us into an apartment. - The small cottage on the dike with 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. - Barns, built against the mill. - Sheds, along the road that runs over the dike and on the valley side (with dish antenna). There is a large kitchen of 45m², with fireplace on the 1st floor of the miller's house. The kitchen is fully equipped with a dishwasher, kitchen appliances and lots of pans, knives, etc. Adjacent to the kitchen is a bedroom and a study/reading room. There is also a bathroom with a small shower and a toilet. The apartment on the 2nd floor (70 m²) has a sitting area with bathroom (with bath), separate toilet and large bedroom (25 m²). There are four bedrooms in the small cottage; downstairs 3 of 10m2 for 2 people, 2 bathrooms (1 bathroom with a bath, the other bathroom has a small shower) and upstairs there is a similar room for 3 or 4 people, and a cozy children's room (2 beds up to 12 years old). The watermill itself consists of 4 floors. The "machinery" of the mill is still in its original state. Pets (dogs, cats) are allowed. From the vacation home, you have a beautiful view over your own lake (Northwest) or river valley (Southeast). The house focuses on two completely different worlds, the spectacular side of the lake and the modest romantic side of the valley. Everywhere there are places where you can enjoy the view of the lake with your lounger, in total privacy, to read a book or just relax. The water of the lake has been tested and is completely safe for swimming. We have built a small sandy beach on the lake from which you can easily go into the water and where children can play. With small children who cannot swim, it is advisable to bring life jackets and to have the children wear them. There is water everywhere, and there is no possibility of closing off the lake or the streams. For very small children, there is the possibility to close off the sheltered terrace against the house on the southeast side with a child gate, for example. There is a large raft (22m²) and a boat with an electric motor. The raft can serve as a jetty for sunbathing, swimming from and eating with large groups. A washing machine and dryer are provided. Guest access Guests have access to all parts. Other things to note Guests must bring their own towels and linens. For an additional charge of 25 euros per person, we can provide towels and linens. Duvets and pillows are provided and some extra blankets.
