My home is a beautiful, private, clean and well-equipped space in a quiet neighborhood of cool breezes and coqui frogs, walking distance to the beach, town, snorkeling, and surf breaks. A stay on an island without utilities is like a Survivor episode. We have reliable power and water with backups (solar, Tesla, generator, cisterns). And we have fast wifi. Come play and relax :) ***Note: If the grid is down, we do not provide air conditioning.*** The space Most of my guests are here to surf and I'm located midway between the center of town and the start of Rincón's world-class surf. It's a 7 minute walk to the nearest swimmable beach, 4-5 minutes walk to food (BBQ, tacos, sliders, organic smoothies and bowls, coffee), and 11 minutes to the center of town where the Thursday Art Walk and Sunday Organic Farmers Market are held. The Marina, with more restaurants and activities, great sunsets and beautiful scenery is a 10 minute walk from the house or 3 minute drive. Rules are fairly relaxed here, so if you wander down to the beach with a cold beer in hand, the SWAT team will magically NOT appear. Puerto Rico is the freest part of the "land of the free". :) My Rincón Retreat is perfect for up to six guests looking for clean accommodations in a central location. It's in a garden setting, on a quiet street just up from "Road to Happiness" Route 413 that leads to the best beaches in Rincon. Especially suited to those looking for a longer term rental, this home features a gated walled yard, private entrance, spacious kitchen with island, full-size refrigerator/freezer, range with oven, coffeepot, microwave and all the pots, pans, kitchen gadgets, dishes and silverware you'll need. We are sensibly environmentally conscious, so we collect rainwater and we've installed reverse osmosis water filters at all our guest accommodations: you don't have to lug expensive, heavy pallets of water in 32 individual plastic bottles. Plus ours tastes better than bottled. :) There are queen beds in both bedrooms, a sectional sofa in the living room, and a queen Aerobed available upon request. There are ceiling fans throughout, and AC units in both bedrooms. We have high speed WiFi and there is a peek ocean view from the living room. This home is surrounded by a garden of papaya, mango, and plumeria. In fact the front yard is shaded by a mature pineapple mango tree that grows delicious fruits. It's a great place to relax with a book. Help yourself! The water pressure is great, and we have a solar hot water heater that, while saving the planet, gets hot enough to scald so please be aware. Self-sufficiency: My property is powered by a brand new 5.1KW solar system with battery backup. When power goes out, we stay online. And we're connected to the utility as a final failsafe. Furthermore, we collect rainwater in two cisterns and can maintain pressure for the whole property. My Retreat is comfortable, peaceful, safe and secure and a perfect retreat after a day charging waves, exploring the town or just relaxing at the beach. Guest access Guests often leave beach gear which is provided for your exclusive access on the back patio. It often includes snorkel gear, coolers, chairs, though is not guaranteed, as it rotates depending on what recent guests have left behind, or broken. Feel free to use, and contribute for future guests! Please just rinse and return when done. :) Other things to note Parking is off-street and secure, behind a gate and shaded by a mango tree. Towels and linens are of course provided. Bring your laptop or tablet. The house has free 20 meg wifi for your convenience.
