In addition , find yourself .6 mile from the Casino, less than a mile from downtown Cape & Capaha Park, and only 11 miles from Trail of Tears State Park. About a mile from SE Hospital & about 3 miles to St. Francis Hospital. You’ll find a variety of restaurants within walking distance or just a short drive. The space This house is definitely a craftsman charmer from the early 1900s! Although an older home, we’ve worked hard to highlight the original touches while bringing it up to date with new touches. The original wood floors have been refinished, while the kitchen was replaced with brand new cabinets and modern appliances. The primary bathroom was totally renovated but a few original touches remain, including the original medicine cabinet. You’ll love the original woodwork, light fixtures, windows, doors and hardware found throughout this cottage! Outside you’ll find the front porch to be a great spot to enjoy your morning coffee or a cool drink as you relax in the evening. You’ll also find a gas grill and picnic table for outdoor cooking and dining al fresco. In the family suite upstairs we’ve added a 3/4 bathroom (due to it having a shower only - no tub) to create a private space for a needed getaway complete with it’s own work/game table, easy chair, 65” tv and a separate heating and air conditioning unit. All in all we’re sure you’ll find this charmer a lovely place to stay while enjoying all that Cape Girardeau has to offer! Guest access At this time you’ll have full private access to the main and upper floors of this home. While the basement is undergoing a few changes to soon provide a private laundry space as well, the basement also includes a space for some of our Airbnb rental supplies and may need to be occasionally accessed through a separate entrance. While most likely there would be no need, in the event of gathering needed supplies for a guest we may need to do so by entering the basement’s private entrance on a rare occasion. Other things to note As this home is from the early 1900s, please note that part of the charm found in the original wood floors means there may be an occasional squeak. Also, there are a few steps that lead to both the front and back doors so please plan accordingly. A recent guest helped us with a bit of history . . . In that the original owners called the property “Walnut Haven”, thus its name is officially changed from Rose Hill Cottage.
