Description

This listing is for booking the Yellow Suite in Alexandra's Archontiko, the Traditional Pelion Archontiko Villa. Please see our other listing for reviews, details and pictures. The space Get away from it all, away from the tourist traps in this traditional Pelion mansion, called an "archontiko," in the special village of Trikeri, Greece. This archontiko, which was the site of my grandmother Alexandra's childhood home, has been completely architect re-designed into four individual self-contained apartments/ studio suites. Alexandra's Archontiko is ideal for a couples or family with a couple kids. Gather together in the lush garden at the communal wooden table, to sip coffee in the morning or grill and dine al fresco in the evenings. Explore the unique villages of this corner of Pelion, or visit the many nearby crystal turquoise water beaches. Sailing, scuba, and other activities nearby. There are four apartments available for you to choose from (we will also rent these apartments together for a special price if you are planning to travel with a group of friends- ask us about it). The host will be staying in the 5th apartment. Each has a similar design, with some variations, and we name the rooms by the color accent used in each (Yellow, Blue, Turquoise and Red). Each has a private bath with shower, new custom kitchen area, wooden table and chairs, one double bed, and two twin beds, that can also be used as sofa seating during the day. Each has beautiful village and sea views. There are two shared balconies with breathtaking views from the 2nd and 3rd floors. Yellow Apt: On the ground floor, but has access to a private entrance and it's own semi-private garden area. One main bed (small double), and two twins. Smallest, but very cheerful! Blue Apt: 2nd floor, queen bed and two twins. Oriented more towards the sea. Green (Turquoise) Apt: 3rd floor, queen bed and two twins. Faces both the village and the sea. Larger dining area. Red Apt: 3rd floor, queen bed and two twins. Oriented more towards the sea. Larger dining area. Slightly larger than the Turquoise apartment. This is a great place to get away from the busy life and experience a traditional village. The mountain-top village of Trikeri has a beautiful traditional "plateia", or square, surrounded by cafes and restaurants serving local specialties. While you will be truly "away from it all", as it is the last village on the Pelion peninsula, there is a regular farmer's market, a small supermarket (across the street), butchery, and pharmacy. You can go swimming in the lower seaside village of Agia Kyriaki (accessible by the scenic historical cobblestone walking path "calderini", or, of course, by taxi/car/bus). From there you can also call for a water taxi to pick you up from the port and take you to one of many beautiful local beaches, or even for an excursion to Trikeri Island, where you can visit the historical monastery and dine at some delicious restaurants. We have lots of suggestions of where to go and what to do on your visit, and we'll be happy to share with you! Please get in touch with any questions. Guest access You will have access to the apartments you rent, and the common balconies and gardens, with large common table. There is an outdoor grill which can be used with proper instruction, depending on the weather. Other things to note The house is located on the main street, which will allow you to easily access it by car (some parts of the village are not reachable by car). While the village is fairly small, and is often quiet, there is traffic on that road (as it is the main road that connects Trikeri to the port village of Agia Kyriaki), so there may be noise from the street. The village is busiest during July and August.
